Chapter 96
Penelope’s POV
I was escorted by soldiers, walking and walking, and did not know where the end of the road.
I perked up my ears, not letting go of any small voices around, carefully identified where I was.
There was the sound of running water ahead, and I quickly realized that I had been taken to a garden behind the Packhouse, which is part of the Packhouse, but because of the distance from the house, very few people would come here.
The soldier guarding me slowed down gradually. The dungeon should be around here somewhere.
The sound of water splashing lingered in my ears. A fine mist fell on my face. My mask began to get wet and the air inside it began to thin.
I was breathing heavily when I heard the sound of chains. This was the sound of the iron door being opened, followed by the sound of the heavy door panel being opened on both sides. It was as if the waterfall of the rockery had been pushed open, and the heavy and humid air rushed into my face.
