Charles’s POV
After sending the last email, I finally finished my work today. I massaged my temples and looked out the window. The setting sun had sunk into the forest in the distance, turning the sky orange-red. I left my desk and stood at the window to enjoy the short-lived view.
I was surprised to see Selena on the training ground today, but I didn't have any contact with her. After we made love last night, I felt something was changing. But I don't know. Whenever our eyes met, the atmosphere was a little strange. She is my wife. I see her at home almost every day. But our marriage was complicated, and my mother treated her badly.
Thinking of these, I feel a burst of restlessness. I tugged at my bow tie, trying to break the unpleasantness of my life.
My cell phone vibrates. I got a text from my beta Billy. He invited me to get together at Punch Cage.
I thought for a few seconds and texted Billy. "I'll see you in an hour."
