Kayla's POV
"Elizabeth?!" My voice was full of shock, and I couldn't help but pick up my phone again to look at the numbers displayed on the screen, doubting if someone was playing a prank.
"I know my name; you don't need to remind me repeatedly, Miss Reeves."
However, the calm and sharp tone was enough to prove that the person on the other side was indeed Elizabeth. I quickly covered the phone's receiver with my hand, lowering my voice to ask Amber beside me, "What should I do now?"
Amber, looking almost as shocked as I was, rolled her eyes and finally instructed me, "Ask her what she wants!"
"Okay." I nodded and moved my hand away from the microphone.
"Do you have something to say by calling, Elizabeth?"
"In fact, I'd like to invite you for afternoon tea."
Although she was using the word "invite," Elizabeth's tone remained rigid, as if someone was forcing her to do so.
