"I don't understand! Father!"
I stared at my father's indifferent gaze, momentarily thinking there was something wrong with my ears.
"It was you who told me that once I agreed to marry Peter, it meant the alliance between the Rufus and Newberry families! But now, you refuse to help Peter? I don't understand!"
"Sit down, Amber."
My father patted my shoulder, trying to keep me calm. "Don't forget, you're carrying a child."
"I haven't forgotten, Father."
I stared intensely into my father's eyes, which showed no sign of emotion. I raised my voice.
"Obviously, the one who has forgotten is you! Just now, you rejected assistance to the father of my baby!"
"That's enough, Amber!"
Father slammed his hand on the table, shooting me an angry look.
