Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Lord Of The Mysteries?

Thinking along the line. Morningstar, even though has never been taught how to cultivate that properly. He has always tried learning it by himself and he discovered how to circulate it to certain parts of the body to give it a boost. He also learned how to infuse it into his claws.

He would have been considered a small genius if he was outside in the universe. Since billions of races exist with different talents.

Back to the fight, with such thought, he quickly circulates his qi and sends it into the tentacle by using his claws as the medium. The tentacle was still flaring around and he found it hard to remain still. Thanks to his newfound body he was able to overcome the motion sickness. He focused and kept infusing his qi, he knew he was still at a lower level and within a minute, the QI would finish at the rate he injected the energy.

Following that, something happened to the tentacles. The area pierced by Morningstar's claw began undergoing a chromatic transformation, akin to a progressive poison. Within the tentacle, a tumultuous commotion ensued, as though an interplay between death qi energy and vitality qi had been incited.

With each clash, atoms within the tentacle succumbed to destruction, leading to a gradual transmutation of vitality qi into death qi, thereby accelerating the dissemination of the deadly energy.

Wuuuuuu!

Suddenly, a deep, bone-chilling roar erupted from the depths of the river, echoing through the cave. The water began to bubble and churn as if something large and powerful was approaching from below.

Then, with a burst of power, something rose from the water. It was enormous, blue with some lights sparkling on its surface, with some electricity around its head and it moved with a terrible, alien grace. Its six eyes glowed with a malevolent light as they all focused on the tiny being on one of its tentacles.

 "..."

Morningstar was a little shocked by the huge octopus-like creature.

_The best way to kill it is by infusing the dead QI into its skull. But how do I..._ Morningstar's thought was interrupted as a tentacle waved towards him at a fast speed. While thinking, he flew up, dodging the tentacle, only to see another huge one coming towards him. Morningstar didn't slow down as he turned to the left, flapping his wings faster than ever and narrowly escaping the tentacles.

The tentacles didn't stop as more kept flying towards him, but since they were too huge, Morningstar used the tiny space he could find in-between them to narrowly escape.

He wasn't flying in confusion though, he had a goal and that's to quickly reach the top of the octopus-like creature's huge head. But he was having some issues. It was like anytime he reached as close as five meters to its head, a bolt of electricity would be shot towards him from the head.

Morningstar who was quickly turning into an expert on the air analysis of the range of the attack thought, _I don't have any ability which I can use in this my current power level except for the chant lyrics of demon. But this beast is clearly on a higher level than me and I'm sure it wouldn't succumb to it for more than some seconds._

_I guess I will have to bet everything on this attack then._ Thinking so, Morningstar who was busy dodging each tentacle suddenly, slipped in-between two tentacles and moved towards the head side at his fastest speed.

While moving, he started chanting some words which if anyone heard it would think it was just mumbled jumbled type of words. Following those words, Morningstar drew closer, the more the octopus heard the word, the foggy its eyes got and it couldn't even control the electricity around it at that moment.

 _My chance!_

With such thought, Morningstar beat his wings faster than ever and with a quick movement, he landed on the head. Not having any time to think since he was short on time. Morningstar quickly stabbed his two claws into the octopus's soft skull and injected the dead QI energy into it. He knows he has to be quick or else if the creature regains consciousness, it will be a disaster for him.

_Should I keep chanting it?_ Morningstar thought and immediately gave up on it, with each chant he found himself weaker, plus the loss of qi energy would make it difficult for him to fly. Following that, the death energy started corroding the beast's skull and the pain jolted it back and made its eyes regain clarity.

Roar!

The beast roared in pain and before Morningstar could move, electricity shot into him through the metallic claws stabbed into the beast. The pain was so severe that he couldn't help but let out a roar of pain.

_Since I'm already in a predicament, there's no need to reserve my powers anymore._ With another roar, he gritted his teeth and decided to go all out.

1 second

 2 second

3 second

With each second, the octopus thrashes around and starts slowly down, as if in a panicking mode it decides to sink back into the river but it was too late as the dead energy has already corroded its brain cells. With some twitches, the octopus tentacles dropped down on the river, causing a small tsunami.

The body did not sink back rather it quietly floated on top of the river. Morningstar who was exhausted couldn't help but weakly lay on top of the head as he huffed. Right then.

"Hohoho, you proved me wrong by finishing this fight earlier than expected. You should be grateful, your bloodline is still in the weak phase and wasn't able to catch this big guy's attention or you would have hated seeing a berserk version of it. Anyway, let's not waste our time. Tell me what knowledge would you like to learn?" Terror asked.

Morningstar quickly looked up and sat down in a meditative position, after 5 hours he looked up and said, "I want knowledge on beasts and their benefits to me and secondly I want a powerful sword befitting an angel."

The voice went silent for some minutes before replying, "The knowledge will be provided but as for the sword you asked for, it will be hard. Unless you are willing to trade something for it?"

Morningstar thought and with a grit of his teeth, he decisively replied, "I'm willing to give away these claws for the sword. It doesn't suit my fighting style."

"... Alright. I will provide you with a map of the place where the sword will be located in the next stage and alongside it, the knowledge regarding beasts. Good-bye."

"Wha... Wait, I need the sword now, you can't take my claws and..." Unfortunately, he didn't have time to tell as he was once again teleported to another trial.

"Hehehe, the first trial was too simple. Let's see how many weeks it takes him to finish the second one."

:::::****:::::

Morningstar felt a throbbing pain in his head as his vision went dark, after what felt like ages, he finally regained his vision.

After regaining his vision, he found himself before a study desk made of brown hardwood. Scattered on the table were papers and on the left side were about six textbooks stacked on top of each other. Looking at the wall on his left, he found some pipes installed there which connected to the wall lamps.

The lamps were in the Western classical style. It was the size of a 12-year-old kid's head with a layer of transparent glass. And an exterior grinded with black metal.Looking back on the table, Morningstar saw an ink bottle which was shrouded red from the lamp light.

A feather which was used to dip into the ink bottle was on top of the table. Looking right, Morningstar found a revolver which shocked him.

_What test is this?_ Morningstar subconsciously stood up and he felt unusual, he couldn't summon his powers here. It was like he was a mere mortal but somehow more powerful than mortals. Looking around he discovered he was in an office-like place.

A long black coat was hanging behind the door. While he was still confused, a light knock echoed through the door. With a cautious attitude, Morningstar quickly moved back and took the gun.

_I don't know how to shoot but I will have to pretend._ He thought.

"Officer Hitchcock, it's me. Officer Klein Sheriff."

Even though Morningstar was still confused, he decided to play along and get some information. "Come in." He said as he lowered his gun.

Also, he felt like his voice was deeper than before, almost like a man in his thirties. With a twist of the doorknob, a man with grey eyes that seems to be able to read someone's soul, dressed in a police uniform stepped in, his brown hair seemed to be styled in a spiky way.

Morningstar saw two silver hexagons on his shoulder and felt like his rank was higher. But subconsciously he looked at his own and discovered it was also two silver hexagons.

_He might be a colleague._

"Officer Hitchcock, we have a case at hand to investigate. Captain McDonald said that both of us should deal with it." The man called Klein said in a British tone.

"Oh, what case?" Morningstar who decided to act as Hitchcock asked.

"It's connected to the death of four people," Klein began in a solemn tone, "The professor, Galadriel, his two students, and a three-month-old baby." He paused for a moment as if collecting his thoughts, before continuing. "I've heard that beyonders might be involved, that the deaths were related to some sort of dark ritual and a sacrifice to an evil god."

The air in the room felt heavy and cold, and the tension was palpable. No one spoke, the silence broken only by the faint ticking of the clock on the wall. As soon as Morningstar heard those words, his body trembled as his eyes turned sharper.

_Lord Of The Mysteries! I'm in 'that' novel!_
