Chapter 1 - The Hollow Star

"Author note: Greetings readers, I'm Zendo (My pen name). I am a huge anime lover and got inspired by many Shonen, Sheinen, Isekai's and many other anime's and authors to make my own work. I've been always interested in the genre of Isekai where the characters lives in a complete different world with different sets of rules with the protagonist experience something completely than their inevitable common life. This is the first time writing my story, so I'm always open to criticism. So here is a sum up of this story. Thank you very much.

Description: Chuku no Hoshi, is about a teenage protagonist girl named Tekka who one day slept in her classes and woke up just to figure out she got summoned to a whole new world. Tekka ends up into a new world, where she joins forces to defeat the evil king Elard. She is tasked with many responsibilities, to fight foes and meet new friends. But, is Tekka the right hero for this story?

"What lies behind you and lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The midst of fall has passed, and the sun now shines brightly over the Village of Rikuzentakata.

Legend has it that six million years ago, remnants of the meteor that impacted Earth, leading to the extinction of dinosaurs, scattered across Japan. These remnants are known as the Hollow Stars.

Tekka Ishuna, a 17 year old girl with luscious long white hair and an admire figure, let's out a gentle yawn.

"Seriously? That old myth about the stupid magical stars? You still believe in that old myth?" she remarks.

Next to her was her a long known friend of Tekka, Mika Inori. She was walking along with her at village path, she holds her back straight, while Mika keeps her report at the ready.

Mika's class had to make an report about their ambitions and goals in life.

Mika is a well dressed and prideful girl. She comes from an honourable family. Her glimmering smile and excitement is never off of her unlike Tekka. She seems to be in a elated mood about her work.

"Of course, I believe in it, Tekka-chan. It's my family's dream to discover one."

She responds with determination as her blue crystal sea eyes and her short blond hair waves in the wind.

"From generation to generation the Inori clan's very goal is to found one of those stars. It's said that each of those stars come from a different a world above all worlds of the universe, to all the way to here on earth."

Mika said as she looks straight at Tekka with her eyes glimpsing with every word she talks about her family. You see that she takes full pride on it.

"I aspire to prove my worth for my family and will find one of those stars."

Tekka pouts, giving Mika an annoyed look.

"I get what you are coming from but there's more to life than simply chasing after a myth."

Mika discreetly with Tekka's nihilistic tone stowed her report in her bag, her expression marked by mild annoyance, as she sighed.

"Yeah I get it, anyhow, have you heard?"

"There have been going on the internet about a meteor shower will be visible tonight."

"Astrologists said that between the star rain there will a rare meteor tonight that accurse ones in a decennium."

"So I was thinking since if you don't had anything to do after school… "

But Tekka's focus was somewhere else as she stares behind Mika. In the distance at the greenery fields, she could discern a tall, pink lushed haired young woman, clad in an unfamiliar blue uniform adorned with numerous emblematic stars. Her blue eyes as clear as the water lake of the amazones.

The enigmatic woman briefly locked eyes with Tekka from a considerable distance as they before vanishing in the blink of an eye.

"Hello?! Are you even listening?"

Mika questioned, her tone conveying her irritation.

"Did you saw that?"

Tekka inquired with an questioned undertone.

"Saw what?"

"That woman in the weird and oggy strange uniform."

Mika blinked a few times as she gazed into the distance but couldn't discern the woman Tekka mentioned.

"You might want to cut back on those late-night gaming, Tekka-chan,"

Mika suggested.

"You're beginning to experience those hallucinations I kept warning you about."

Tekka kept her eyes on the place where the mysterious woman disappeared, as both Mika and Tekka arrived at their high school.

They walked together through the halls past girls and boys in school uniforms.

"I can't believe the year is almost over and soon to graduate."

Tekka, deep in thought that her school years almost over and has to start her boring everyday life as an adult. The thoughts didn't please her one bit but couldn't escape reality from it. She then remembers those mangas where a shut in character that barely leave their house and get isekai'd to another world where they have great adventures and make great friends.

"Oh man, I wish I could live like a manga character like that. Why does reality have to be so dull?"

Little did she know that in deep never ending space a blue light sparked.

Later that evening

Tekka sat silent, brooding, knowing full well how her school years were coming to an end and she was being thrust into the hum-drum monotony of adult life. It scared her to that end, knowing how helpless she would be against such a living nightmare. Her mind wandered to all the manga she had read about anti-social teens getting swept away to some kind of fantasy world, joining forces with their comrades, and having an epic adventure take place.

"Oh, how I wish I could live like a protagonist of manga. Why does reality have to be so dull?"

Little did she know, somewhere in the depths of the wide universe, there sparked a blue light.

Tekka is the most outstanding student in not only her class but also her entire school since her scores were above ninety percent and could afford to be rather disassociated from them. She had mastered being uninterested and didn't seem to care that lessons were happening anywhere around her, really. Her teachers had stopped bothering her over these issues, since either gaming, snacking, or napping she would then get good marks.

"School has never been a problem for me. I was raised by my grandmother; barely remember my parents. She was one of those home-schooling kind of people, just piling on books left and right. Because of that, I've never received anything other than straight A's. Honestly, I could teach this class myself if I wanted to, but I rarely do any written work. I usually just put my head down on my desk and sleep like I am doing today."

With the teacher's entry into the class and the start of the lesson, it wasn't long before Tekka was giving in to the tempting sleep, since her nighttime ritual of collecting coins and stars in her favorite game now had her overcome with fatigue.

In a split second, the noise around her dimmed down to a haunting silence until a soothing voice pierced through:

"Rise, chosen one, as a new world awaits you."

The voice caressed soft and insistent, and as Tekka stirred from her sleep, she was floating in a sea of darkness, weightless. Her hair streamed about her head like kelp in a dark current, illuminated by that soft blue glow emanating from everywhere around her.

"What is this?"

"A dream?"

"No, this can't be only a dream; it feels too real."

"I can't move."

"I can't breathe."

The voice came again, an ethereal echoing throughout, but no source to it.

"Awake, hero; you alone can save what lies beyond."

"In your hands, countless lives."

"Save the stars, save the people, and from the bottom of my heart, save my world."

Grabbed by the urge of the plea, Tekka was confused.

"What do you mean by saving your world? What am I supposed to do? I'm just a high school student."

"What could one so tiny and powerless do?"

"That is not true," this voice spoke to comfort her. "I have seen what you can do."

"Nothing will ever have equaled your real capability."

"I see your future: there will be tribulations that will stand in your path, but never surrender."

"Please, you're our only hope."

The little light had grown bigger, shining brighter as it appeared amidst the surrounding darkness.

Tekka's eyes went wide as she strained for it, calling on every last ounce of strength.

"Go forth, hero; your true destiny begins now."

The light enveloped her, shining bright with a brilliance she couldn't even begin to comprehend. A while later, she found herself lying in a meadow, stretched out on the grass with her arms and legs splayed like she was about to make an angel in the snow. The sun was high in the sky, its brilliance painfully bright.

"Ugh, my head.

"I feel like I've had the worst hangover ever."

Looking around, she was disoriented at the unfamiliar surroundings, remembering that one minute she was in class.

"What's going on? Where am I?"

"One minute I was in class, and then I turn up in some random field."

Looking up, clear, with a roaring sound completely foreign to her,

"Is that a bird?"

And doubt now clawed its way into her mind, peering far ahead, where dark, winged creatures cut across the clouds.

"Whoa!!"

"Those aren't birds; those are dragons!"

The dragons loudly flew above until they vanished from sight.

"Could it be that I got summoned into a different, newer fantasy world?!"

Her excitement rose and took over all thought of her life before this one.

"So, she has finally arrived…"

A suave male voice boomed, and the speaker gazed with an appreciative stare at her, ordering his underlings.

"Order all the troops nearby; the Hollow Star is in residence."

The ambition was palpable, drizzling from every word as the king stared at Tekka.

Tekka herself felt delight in the novelty of this environment.

"Oh, I have to see everything there is to see in this place!"

"I hope this world is something like the RPGs-maybe I'll get superhuman powers or some kind of legendary sword."

All her excitement then was suddenly cut off by two men in unfamiliar but unmistakable uniforms, armor on the shoulders and plenty of gadgets attached to the body.

"You!" said one of them gruffly.

"You are not from here. Name and code."

"Code?" asked Tekka, puzzled.

"My name is Tekka Ishuna," she said stammering, trying to find a pretext. "I'm from a faraway place… you wouldn't know it."

The men looked questioningly at each other; doubt oozed from them. One replied, "We don't believe your story. You are precisely who we seek."

Confusion deepened as Tekka asked why these men were after her so shortly after her arrival in this realm.

"Looking for me?

The men raised their hands, and numbers holographically projected from them flickered ominously. They menaced towards her, one said, "The boss ordered us not to eliminate the vessel of the Hollow Star, but he didn't say we couldn't incapacitate her."

Fear had wrapped itself around Tekka as she instinctively took a step back. "H-Hold on! Can't we discuss this?"

Not having come to talk, they did so-pressing her to run into the woods. Panic began to well up inside her as she ran while chaised by the two men throwing electric bolts from the palm of their hand to her by luck she managed to react to a few as than, finally falling down a hill and into a pit of muck.

"What is this?!"

As she regained her bearings, she could hear the men's footsteps nearby.

"D'aww, where did she go?" one of them grumbled. "She's quick, but she couldn't have gone far."

With a sigh of relief, she turned and started to make her way out with the others, only to be overcome with a new fear as she realized she was being sucked down into the thick mud.

"Oh no!"

Desperately, she reached out and grabbed on to rocks, but the power of the muck was too strong. She was about to call out for help when the sound of footsteps echoed above her.

"Ah, the hero finds herself in quite the predicament."

"What a memorable entrance," someone said to no one in particular.

"I rarely see heroes leave such an impression."

Tekka looked up to see a flash of a figure: flaming red hair, crimson eyes, skin white as porcelain. He was grinning, an aura of mischief about him.

"Please, I'm drowning! I need help!"

"I can help you, but it involves a deal," he said in a mysterious tone.

"A deal? Now?!"

"It's simple: I save you if you swear your fealty to me."

She replied without considering the repercussions, "Fine! Just get me out of here!"

In one fluid movement, he bent down and pulled her free of the mire and onto the lawn.

"Couldn't you be easy?" she grumbled, rubbing the back of her head, astounded by the strength this man was endowed with.

"What is this person?" she thought to herself as she stared at him in incredulity at how easily he had effected such a maneuver.

Just then, the two gentlemen reappeared, having given chase.

"We found you! Thought you could hide from us, did you?"

Her heart raced as she instinctively huddled behind the stranger.

"Oh no, the men who were chasing me!"

"Chasing you?" the red-haired man mused, eyeing the uniforms of the henchmen with interest.

"Ah, I see; these are Elard's lackeys."

"Who is this guy?"

"He's irrelevant; all that matters is the girl."

"Dispatch them both!"

The two henchmen lunged at Tekka and the stranger. Their hands crackled with energy. The red-hair smirked and disappeared in a blink of an eye, leaving them dumbfounded.

"Behind you," he said, his voice jolting them to turn around in time to see him posed dramatically, his blazing hand full of fire energy, then cladding into a strong punch that sent one of the henchmen flying into the woods.

"W-What?!" the other henchman stuttered, bedazzled.

"You dare threaten my followers? There will be consequences," He warned, clenching his fist as flames intensified.

"W-Wait—"

Before the henchman could say anything, an extremely strong blaze greeted him, and he fell defeated. The defeat of the two henchmen was quick, and Tekka stared at him in awe.

"Thank you," she said gratefully, her voice full, as he helped her to her feet.

"Who are you, anyway?" she asked.

Zane stood still, an unconscious flash of astonishment crossing his face as he looked at her.

"You can call me Zane. My mission is to save the world from Elard."

He stood tall, hands on his hips, a wide smile gracing his face.

"Zane." Tekka repeated, feeling that spark of inspiration ignite within her. For the very first time, she felt she might truly belong and with aspirations to become just like this great figure before her.
