Have you ever tried to describe to someone how you felt about something sometimes, and you just couldn't find the right words? You could strongly feel it inside but words wouldn't be able to say. You only wished they were in your shoes, so they could understand it better by themselves without any need for explanation.
There are so many controversies as to who God is.
As we go further, we would be looking at various questions people ask about God. Questions like:
Is the God of the Old Testament same with the God of the New Testament? Who created God? How great is God? Is the Trinity God one? And many more questions.
Well, there's no best and single way to describe who God is. Whatever I try to say about Him is just my opinion based on what is written, what He has done and still does and my life relationship with Him. You would get to know more about Him, by yourself, when you keep having fellowship with Him, and He keeps opening your mind, eyes, ears and heart to understanding.
How do we now describe Him, if we were to say something about Him? What is He like? We know that we (humans) are in His image, but certainly He's not little like we are. We don't see Him, He's a Spirit, and we don't understand Him in terms of height, width, or size, because He is infinitely broad, and He can't be measured. He is just awesomely mighty, beyond comprehension.
The Scripture talks about His eyes, ears, mouth, hand(s), ways, knowledge, power. It's just a way of Him trying to let us know He sees beyond our imagination, He listens to every of our conversations, He speaks in His own ways, He works wonders mightily, His ways are not like ours, He knows everything and anything from the foundation of the world to the end, and He does whatever pleases Him and no one can ever oppose His authority. These are what we will be looking at, trying to describe what He is liken to.
*His Eyes. Don't picture these eyes in your tiny mind, like they were physical or finite.
1. "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." Proverbs 15:3.
Have you ever wondered how possible that He sees everything, everywhere, anytime (or at the same time)? It means, the whole of Him is here, and is there, and is everywhere, at every time. It would always baffle your mind, right?
This also means His eyes are: E-extensive. They are wide, and have no limits or obstruction as to where the sight could reach. Beneath the waters, in the ground, through any objects, above the sky, name it, He sees! Y-yonder. The eyes are distant, far from the earth, into the heavens, and millions and countless of miles away but within sight.
E- explicit. In order words, clear and express.
S- stethoscopical. Wow! It doesn't matter how invisible an organism is, be it bacterium, virus, or anything, His eyes see everything.
2. "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, ..." 1 Peter 3:12a.
Just like a mother, who watches over her baby, ensuring that the baby is always fine, so does He watch over the righteous. His eyes always are with them that worship Him, yet He is still very much aware of everything going on everywhere. He never gets distracted.
3. "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." Psalms 32:8.
His eyes radiates lights, to serve as guide as we tread the path of life.
Life is dark and dreary. When His eyes are off your path, you are bound to stumble.
