Ben Rouge
The boy who saves the world
Chapter 1Â
The virus begins
The end of summer had begun and the symptoms of a harsh, blustery winter had covered the sky and the ground. Ben was sprinting in the snow and gradually making his way back to town he stopped in shock, staring at the odd shaped building blocking the pathway towards chelsea street which meant it was blocking the pathway to the entire town. He couldn't believe it. How was he meant to enter? How was he meant to give the loan money to his family? In utter shock Ben approached the building about to go inside, he half expected a dinosaur to jump out of the incredibly ugly looking building well it was more the size of a small apartment but it was still hideous.
"Don't talk to strangers and never make eye contact and you'll be fine" Ben muttered to himself, his long gone grandpa had once told him that. If you have heard of the popular phrase, never judge a book by its cover. It simply means if something looks bad on the outside you shouldn't think it looks bad on the inside well the very building Ben walked in was definitely not something to say never judge a book by its cover about. The windows were cracked, dust covered the cheap, brown wood and all the staff were wearing masks and blue outfits holding injections and tools you would normally find in a hospital. "There has been a devastating plague killing dozens of people. You will have to take a test and be declared healthy for you to enter this town" said one of the staff, her voice half muffled because of her bad quality mask. "Ok whatever" said Ben as they started giving jabs he was relieved he wasn't in danger but surprised at the thought of a plague he knew a there was a small plague that was spreading incredibly slowly called tigerfang-23 but he didn't expect it to kill so many people, in the past decade many small plagues had started to show but only lasted for a maximum of 1 and a half week. Luckily, he tested negative which meant he was healthy and safe "congratulations you are a healthy boy and don't have the plague" said the staff sounding unusually disappointed. Instead of leaving, Ben walked toward the short, ugly coloured entrance but hid behind a circular, black bin. The rhythm of the clock ticking rang in his ear for 5 long minutes until he heard someone speak.Â
"Peasants have been in this town for many years, poor, rotten people that have drawn away many tourists. I think the government is doing a great thing. Making up a plague and finding out how much money they own, accusing them for a fake virus is the perfect excuse for imprisoning the useless, cowardly peasants, don't you agree" said a deep-voiced staff member.''I couldn't agree more," replied a more high pitched staff. He couldn't believe his ears they were imprisoning people for tourists this was unbelievable he thought to himself without thinking he ran out of the exit sprinting across the grass "I'll tell my parents what's happened and what i've heard they'll now what to do" Ben repeatedly said that, and he believed it, Until he arrived "papa, ma where are you" "were here son" replied his papa from the kitchen "you won't believe what I heard, the virus tigerfang-23 there making it up and accusing peasants for it, so more tourists will come to town "nonsense what have I told you about lying, and now your lying to your parents go to your room now, the government would never do such a thing and come back when you are ready to apologise" raged his ma. Ben dropped the loan money and went straight to his room he knew they would never believe him he would have to escape the house and go to the only person that would believe him Samantha.
Chapter 2
The start of a his journey
Many centuries ago there was a goddess named Samantha and a devil named Serpentes, Serpentes wanted destruction however Samantha wanted peace and to create humans and when she did, Serpentes was furious he knew he had to kill all of them as well as Samantha so he unleashed his powerful venom in the rivers, seas and lakes in only one day half the population had fallen so Samantha with all her might drank the poisoned water and replaced it with fresh water she set a goal to defeat the powerful devil Serpentes and when she met him there was a ferocious battle of full thunder and fire after many long days Samantha reigned victorious she hid the in the mountain of Recopartu and she would only let someone enter if they were pure of heart many tried to see her but all failed.
Ben wanted to meet Samantha and finely extinguish all rage on Earth when his parents were fast asleep, he escaped and made an oath to never return until he met her.
"Ahh" screamed Ben in frustration. How was he going to buy food and transportation? The mountain of Recopartu was 4 and half hours by bike away and he didn't even have a bike! Then he remembered he had a good friend in the town Gartino which was 1 hour away by bike he had promised to give his family food, clothes and money if needed he was sure he would give him something and with that money he could rent a electric bike for at least 3 weeks which would shorten the journey the journey altogether would take at least 6 to 8 hours including 2 hours of getting tired and sleeping if needed so he first needed to go to Gartino so he began to walk and walk and walk…
After 2 whole hours of walking or what seemed like 2 whole days he had finally made it to his house. It was quite easy as he luckily didn't cross any gangsters because they always chase you offering something dangerous to eat or blackmailing you with death!
He approached the house knowing that if he gave him nothing and realised he escaped, his parents would kill him, let alone being grounded for months. The point is his parents would never trust him again! BANG,BANG,BANG Ben loudly knocked on the door waiting impatiently for a response "hello there Ben'' replied Garad the friend Ben had been talking about, opening the door speedily "what do you want at this time, it is quite late shouldn't you be asleep" said Garad confused "oh it's because my family is running low on money so they told me to go to you if you would be willing to give us some money." replied Ben "of course would be willing too I know your probably in a rush so I'll give some cash if need more please don't be afraid to ask" said Garad handing him an envelope filled with cash "thanks'' said Ben, we'll pay you back I promise" he ran away slowly so he wouldn't be impolite he knew deep down that lying was wrong especially about something like money but it was an emergency so he couldn't do anything about it. He ran and ran and ran searching for a bike hiring station now that he had the money he could finally afford one and then the dangerous and long part of the adventure begins…
Chapter 3
The gangstersÂ
In the end he did find a bike shop. The only thing wrong was that there was a high amount of shady signs pointing down a dark alleyway. After seeing how corrupt the government really was he couldn't help but think how corrupt criminals would be seen as they were criminals. He couldn't do anything but hope for the best at this point seen as he had no one else to trust. His own parents didn't believe him, who else could he trust more than his parents other than the goddess Samantha keeping in mind he hadn't even found her yet.
He continued down the alleyway watching his step trying his best not to make any possible sound including breathing. He didn't know if anyone was here so he was scared to his down right core . Suddenly he heard a grunt come from the shadows. "Hello?" he called, "Is there anyone here?" He wasn't surprised when he didn't get a reply. "What is a little boy doing here?" he asked menacingly. Ben didn't know who the person was talking to when he asked the question. "Does he have a deathwish?" another called. There was cold laughter that had been by multiple people.Â
"No." Ben replied bravely. There was an eerie silence. These people had clearly not expected this scrawny boy to talk back like that. "Hey kid, do ya know who you're messing with?" Asked the person who seemed to be the boss.Â
"No."
"We're the Deadlock gang and if ya don' scram right now this bat will be the last thing you ever see." Ben was obviously feeling extremely threatened but he couldn't show any fear.
"Didn't you hear him?" " Get out of here now!" he bellowed.Â
Ben cursed at them quietly. "Boy what did u just say"? Ben didn't reply; he thought of this as his best chance to run.
He took the chance he ran down the alleyway avoiding bins and large mounds of rubbish. He took a left and continued running not realising he was accidentally following the signs to the bike shop. It was dark here. He was just able to make out what came in front of him just before he hit it. The voices of the Deadlock gang were still heard in the distance. What was this coming into view? It was the bike shop just what he had been looking for.
