Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Interesting Egg

In the labyrinth of speculation, as to whether the Night Forest is a product of human hands, hastily crafted within a mere year, Sebastian found his thoughts plunging into profound contemplation. This introspection was sparked by Jared's recent narrative, recounting how an esteemed expert deliberately brought the Night Forest into existence, amid whispers of concealed enigmas shrouding the Eastern region.

Legend has it that within this mysterious expanse, the legacy of two Grand Magisters, ancestral figures presiding over 11 kingdoms and one empire, might find its sanctuary.

Yet, the saga takes an exhilarating turn when delving into a chronicle from five millennia past—an epoch marked by a grandiose war that reverberated across the entirety of the Eastern Continent. Its aftermath bore witness to sheer devastation, claiming the lives of numerous arcanists elevated to the loftiest tiers of mastery. This historic turmoil, etched into the very annals of Mystralia, is known as the 'War of the Family,' a nomenclature derived not only from the familial ties among the combatants but also from the shared genesis of the native eastern populace.

A tantalizing detail heightens the intrigue: even in the present, the precise whereabouts of the erstwhile battlefield remains an enigma, shrouded in the mists of time.

Before Sebastian could delve into overthinking, he decided it was wiser for them to discuss their chosen sub-occupations for a higher NCP.

"Who among you aspires to become a Hunter?" Sebastian inquired directly, aiming to maximize their time. After spending three hours in the Arcane History class led by Jared, Sebastian didn't waste any time.

Among the 40 members of the experimental class, most of them expressed a desire to become a Hunter.

Jared also mentioned that hunters, aside from NCP, could come across various arcane fruits, herbs, and stones during hunting. Occasionally, weapons and arcane materials were found. Nearly everyone wanted to be a hunter, surprisingly, including Izy.

They agreed to register together for those aspiring to be hunters.

They also learned that their senior brother, Jared, would be the head of the hunters, prompting many to decide to become hunters.

"In Alchemy, aside from me, does anyone else want to join?"

Three hands went up, and when Sebastian saw who they were, he wasn't surprised, as all of them were plant users.

"Ly, guide Remi and Alana to the Alchemy room, and wait for me there."

"Sure, Captain," Lysander replied demurely and invited the two companions.

"In the Medical team, is it just you, Emma, and Emily?"

"Nooooooo! Anna is with us," came the playful and spirited response.

Before Sebastian could ask again, Arnold and Zeke presented themselves to head to the Blacksmith and Inscription Association.

The rest went to the Canteen to learn culinary skills; those who chose to become Alchemists, Medical staff, and in Culinary were Auxiliary Arcane.

The group dispersed, each member making their way to the designated registration points for their chosen sub-occupations. Sebastian, in his role as the leader, made certain that every individual had a selected path, ensuring no one was left adrift in the sea of decisions.

Jared, a silent observer of these proceedings, found himself nodding occasionally in silent agreement with the unfolding choices. It was apparent that the youngsters had made judicious decisions under the thoughtful guidance of their leader. The nods from Jared were nods of approval, acknowledging the sagacity exhibited by the group.

In the backdrop of this dynamic, a quiet admiration swelled within Jared. Although he harbored a particular fondness for the arcane guardian possessors, Izy and Darwin, he couldn't deny the captivating charisma that emanated from Sebastian. There was an assurance, a quiet confidence that permeated the air whenever Sebastian spoke. It was a charisma that spoke volumes about his capabilities.

Jared's admiration extended beyond mere actions. He marveled at how Sebastian had been molded – from the poised and decisive mannerisms to the measured and composed way of speaking. Sebastian, it seemed, embodied a unique blend of leadership qualities that garnered not just respect but genuine regard from his peers.

As Jared continued his watchful gaze, a realization dawned upon him. The absence of envy among Sebastian's peers was striking. It was a testament to the leader's ability to inspire respect without fostering a competitive or resentful environment. Each member seemed content in their chosen roles, an atmosphere undoubtedly influenced by the presence of Sebastian at the helm.

Jared couldn't help but be captivated by the scene playing out before him. There was no trace of bitterness or jealousy among the group, only a collective sense of purpose and respect. It made Jared's observation a journey of genuine interest rather than mere oversight.

Thus, Jared followed the entire class, not just as an instructor but as a witness to the flourishing camaraderie and respect that had taken root among the students.

However, what Jared wasn't aware of behind Sebastian's exemplary leadership at such a young age was Gerald's continuous mentorship.

Guided by the lessons of life, Sebastian managed to mature his mind in a commendable manner. Despite his father's reminders that he was still young, Sebastian remained undeterred, instead, he devoted himself to helping others.

Sebastian's classmates had all exited the room, leaving him alone. He walked towards Gerald, and from his hand, he produced a ring.

"Senior brother, I would like to consult with you."

"What is it?" Jared was puzzled because Sebastian stayed behind in the room and waited for everyone to leave before approaching him. Jared noticed that Sebastian was taking something out from outside a Spatial ring.

Jared's eyes widened when he saw an egg being presented by Sebastian.

"Where did you find this arcane egg?" Jared couldn't help but widen his eyes at the sight of the egg.

"While gathering firewood with Father, I stumbled upon this egg. I initially hesitated to take it, but it seems to have a profound understanding. My father wanted me to leave it behind, but it insisted that I keep it, so I brought it home."

As the head of the Arcane Guardian Exploration, Jared had encountered various types of eggs, but the one before him was unique. Its intricate markings were a work of art.

"Where exactly did you find this?" Jared inquired with astonishment, realizing that eggs capable of communication, even without hatching, suggested an arcane beast with a unique bloodline. If Jared's suspicion was correct, this egg originated from a high-tiered Arcane beast.

"At the entrance to the Night Forest. Before entering the Night Forest, there's a woodland in the Whitewood area, and that's where I found it," Sebastian replied, still somewhat puzzled by Jared's questions.

"What's special about Little Iggy?"

"It might be better if I first study what's inside this egg." Before Sebastian could reply, the egg swiftly returned to his possession. It seemed almost as if it was frightened by Jared's words.

"Interesting," Jared couldn't help but nod approvingly, wearing a smile that spoke of fascination.

"For the time being, keep this to yourself. Just a friendly reminder, refrain from revealing it to anyone. I'll attempt to discuss it with Senior Brother Ashton and Teacher Angela."

"Noted!"
