Chapter 32 - Geralt VS The Knight Beast.

It was at that moment that the Knight Beast aimed for Geralt's face and leapt up.

"Damn it!"

Geralt ducked low. The Knight Beast flew over him and landed headfirst after failing to stop in time. But it quickly regained composure and charged in for another attack.

The beast was still a few distances away from Geralt, but it swung out its four-clawed arm towards him. Geralt thought it was a dumb move since there was still a lot of gap between them and the strike wouldn't be able to connect.

"What the..."

Right before Geralt's eyes, the beast's arms began to stretch towards him at incredible speed.

"Force shi..."

Before Geralt could finish gathering up his defensive move, the arms already reached him, slamming into his chest and sending him flying.

Geralt flew across the vast empty room and crashed against the wall, causing small cracks to form.

"Now who would have thought this bastard was stretchy. I guess this fight would be a little tougher than I anticipated," Geralt pondered, lifting his body off the floor and wiping the blood off his lips with his sleeves.

At first glance, Geralt thought the beast was a Master or Grandmaster rank. But after witnessing its strength and speed, he had doubts.

"Just what rank is this bastard?"

The Knight Beast began to charge in once more, making a guttural noise.

Geralt took his stance, raising one hand, he stood a single finger upright, and his thumb locked with the rest of his fingers in a strange way.

"Time pause!"

Saying those words, everything around Geralt froze like a statue, including the beast. The Time Pause technique was a special type of technique that is used mostly by higher-ranked Chaos users.

Once the technique was active, it would cause everything and everyone closer to the user to freeze for the duration of 5 seconds.

Geralt wasted no time in charging towards the already frozen beast, clenching his fist tightly, and sending out a punch towards the bastard's head.

BAM!

The fist connected neatly with the beast, lifting it off the floor and sending it a few meters backward.

Watching from the side, Kadori's expression was mixed with confusion and surprise after witnessing the scene that played out right in front of him.

Kadori thought each Chaos user was supposed to have only one technique, and during the test, Geralt used the technique 'Dismantle.' How then was he able to use the Time Pause?

Kadori couldn't understand what was going on. He chose not to think about it too much since this would only favor him right now.

Besides, he could always ask when they get out of here.

"Pant... Pant... Pant..."

Geralt leaned his hands on his knees as he panted heavily. The Time Pause technique usually drained the user's energy whenever it was being used.

But getting your energy drained was worth it, as long as the beast was knocked out from the strike.

"Huh?" A puzzled expression appeared on Geralt's face as the Knight Beast began to lift its body off the floor.

"That punch... That single punch was supposed to be enough to take it out," Geralt pondered, watching the Beast recover from the strike.

Once more, the beast closed the gap between its prey and slashed out its claws. Geralt managed to leap backward with his last bit of energy to dodge the attack, but he wasn't fast enough to dodge the ones from the other three arms.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

Deep scratch marks were made on Geralt's chest as the claws connected. Blood trickled down from the wound, and Geralt fell to his knees, out of breath and lacking the strength to keep going.

DUM! DUM! DUM!

Thunderous footsteps filled the place as the Knight Beast headed towards Geralt, who was now on his knees. When the beast got within striking distance, it swung out its claws towards Geralt.

BAM!

A loud banging sound reverberated throughout the area. Geralt, who had closed his eyes and gritted his teeth, waited for the outcome. But nothing came.

Opening his eyes slowly, Geralt glanced around him and saw Kadori panting heavily, his fist clenched with black blood staining it. Lying in front of Kadori was the beast with black blood flowing from its head.

While Kadori was watching from the side, he was also as shocked as Geralt when the punch from the Time Pause didn't kill the beast. But when Kadori examined the beast closely, he could see a huge crack mark on its head.

It looked just like a wall that was already cracked and on the verge of collapsing.

Kadori knew that the crack mark was caused by Geralt's punch, and any single strike aimed towards that same area would damage the beast's head completely.

So Kadori seized the opportunity and charged towards the beast, sending out a punch with all his might towards the same cracked area, causing a huge hole to be made.

Different sets of screens kept appearing and disappearing in Kadori's line of sight. Examining the notifications, Kadori couldn't see the one notification he was looking for.

'Where's the Soul Zen? I honestly thought the beast might be a Harbinger of souls. If it's not it, then where exactly is the Soul Zen?' Kadori pondered with a disturbed look.

"Thanks, man, for saving me. I owe you one." Geralt struggled back to his feet and showed gratitude towards Kadori for saving him.

"Nah, it's fine. You did most of the work," Kadori replied, shifting his gaze towards the dead beast and kneeling down in front of it.

[ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO STORE A KNIGHT BEAST IN YOUR ARSENAL?]

Once Kadori placed his hand on the beast, a notification screen popped up right in front of him.

[YES]

[KNIGHT BEAST HAS BEEN ADDED TO YOUR ARSENAL] [WOULD YOU LIKE TO SUMMON?]

After selecting yes, the beast's corpse vanished into thin air, and Kadori received the next set of notifications confirming it had been stored.

Kadori knew the beast's corpse disappearing into thin air might look strange, so he quickly shifted his gaze towards Geralt to compose a lie.

Shifting his gaze towards Geralt, Geralt wasn't paying attention to him anymore but had already made his way towards the box that was already opened, and bright yellow light illuminated from it.

Kadori quickly rushed up to where Geralt stood to see what was inside the huge box.

"What do we have here?"
