KENAN
Once I am sure my breath was even I knock on the door and it opens before I could touch it. I walk in and Karl was at his desk as usual buried in papers. The past days I have gotten to know that not only is he the principal of this school but the king's personal advisor on education and magic as a whole and that position was so stressful.
He barely sleeps because of the amount of paperwork he is buried in and the amount of decisions resting on him alone and now he has taken up my training personally which has been going well. I know he doesn't like to show it but I can clearly see it in him that it is a lot of work and the fact that I haven't seen Bryan here once also shows how he doesn't like mixing personal relationship and business.
I have come to respect him not only as a Prof or principal but as a person because of how well he balances all his responsibilities and meets up at all turns. Let us not also forget that sly smirk that he keeps on his face always to cover up his stressed out body.
He looks up as I enter and nods me to move in after muttering a greeting under his breath. I walk up to the wall and enter the pass code, it opens and I walk to my side and begin my training. These few days I have gotten a lot of progress in controlling my mana. The pull was strong but now I am stronger, I focus on calling my mana and immediately it responds to me and I feel it rise up under my skin but today it was different.
Unlike before the mana wasn't storing in my heart but was flowing and it was in every part of my body. Every vein, muscle, artery, bone and part of me was pure mana and it wasn't pulling me it was waiting for my command. It was not waiting to be let out but was waiting for me to tell it what to do.
At that moment I knew I already have control, I just felt it in every fibre of my being that that mana was mine to control and not meant to control me. I felt power unlike before rush through my body waiting for me to let them out on my own accord and it was invigorating.
I decide to test it and picture a ball of water floating in my hands. I was expecting the whole room to be flooded as usual but when I open my eyes I see water in the form of a sphere floating just a few inches away from my hand. It was large and exactly as I pictured in my mind. I play with the water for a few seconds giving it different shapes before commanding it to disappear into thin air.
I try the same thing with the other 3 major elements trying to see if I would get the same pull but nothing like that was happening instead the mana was doing exactly as I commanded it to. At this point I was completely in charge.
I remember something from spirit magic class about mind blocks that keep people from reading your mind without you showing them and I have had enough of Karl prying into my thoughts. I do exactly as Prof Gurmen said by clearing my mind of all thoughts first then calling my mana and picture it forming a kind of shell that will cover the brain.
The more the focus the stronger the shell so I put complete focus into making the shell as strong as iron and I allow my mana do the rest. Once i feel it was strong enough I lock my mana there and release the rest of my energy. I jump for joy as I open the door and walk back into the office.
"I did it Karl, I did it. I have control over my mana" I say and instead of the look of congratulation and pride I was expecting from him he had a look of shock on his face and it made me feel like something was definitely wrong
"I can't access your mind and that is impossible" he says and I jump for joy internally. It worked, now let us see how you will know everything I am thinking without asking. I finally have my privacy
"What did you do and who did it for you" he asks hastily clearly confused and frustrated since he couldn't find the answer by reading my mind
"Well the moment I had control I practised the mind block we were taught in spirit magic to protect my mind from infiltration and this just proves that it worked and I am so happy it did" I reply and he nods a little lost in thoughts as I am sure millions of things are going round his brain right now
"How many tries did it take you to succeed" he asks again but this time he looked more intrigued than surprised like he was testing a specimen and it was a little scary
"Only once but it took me a lot of focus though" I reply and he smiles for the first time since I have known him
"Exceptional, just marvellous, you were able to create a strong and perfect mind block at your first try" he says impressed and I smile
"Is that surprising" I ask and he chuckles
"It took the most powerful of masters born a whole week to successfully create a mind block and that was even broken with a little effort. It takes months or even years of reinforcing and strengthening a block to create one as strong as the one you just did in a few second and you don't think it is surprising" he replies with a glint of pride and surprise in his eyes as he stares as me making me feel a little awkward.
"Now that I have control I guess I can take my leave since my mission is accomplished" I reply and he scoffs before standing up from his desk
"I'm sorry to inform you but your mission has not even started but your journey to finding out what that is just started. Now follow me we have a lot of training to do" he says and walks to another wall in his office where he places his hand on the wall and mutters a few words, he asks for my right hand which I give easily, he places it on the wall and mutters a few words before finally drawing a rune and doing the hand signs.
The wall gives way opening to something like a barrier. The barrier is blurry making it very visible to the naked eye. Karl drops my hand and walks through the barrier, I take a few breath to steady my already erratic heartbeat. Lots of thoughts were going through my brains but I push them to the back of my mind as I walk through the barrier.
On the other side of the barrier Karl was standing in a very spacious training room. Unlike the other training room that had only the glass book and a few spell casting space this one had every training equipments from training mats, weapons, targets to any other thing you could imagine will be in a magical training room and most importantly it was very spacious giving the magic enough space to function.
Karl was standing in the centre on a training mat "Welcome to my personal training room. Now let us begin" he says snaps his finger and he was changed from his usual kafta into white and gold sweatpants and sleeveless and that look was one I never expected of him. I pull off my sweatshirt leaving me in black sweatpants and sleeveless with the school emblem on it. He stretches and faces me and I had a face showing I am ready for it.
"Now before you learn about the strongest power of any supernatural and how to use it you must know how it came about and its hierarchy. The elements are not something we just use, like you already know the mana in us has to connect with that in the elements for us to control and manipulate them and the higher your hierarchy the easier it is connect to those lower to you.
The hierarchy is simple enough to understand, the lowest is air then fire, earth, water and then lightning. Those are the major and visible elements in our environment in their hierarchy and anyone with lightning can control and manipulate the other 4. Then we have the invisible elements in their hierarchy which are Spirit then Soul, Life which was the highest until you came around with a higher element in form of the death element.
Now the only person that has ever controlled and used the death and darkness element was Haeclus the god of the underworld during the Great War of the gods" he says and now i was lost. I did history in school and i have never heard of such war.
"I have never heard of such war and why only him" I ask a little confused and Karl replies
"That is because it is a magical mystery that only supernaturals can know. Now you should know this if you are born into any magical family or learn it in history later on but I will tell you now. One of the greatest mysteries that is kept from normal people is how we came to be.
To the world our ancestors were chosen because of their good deeds by the gods and blessed with powers but that really is not the truth" He says and I was shocked out of my wits. I have been lied to all these while and i just believed it and lived my life like nothing was wrong. I just can't imagine how every other norm would feel when they realise all the stories of the gods blessing the aristocrats and royals we were told as kids to make us good was all just a sham. Man this is bullshit. He continues
"Thousands of years ago the gods started coming to the human world and they started mixing with humans because they didn't believe anything could go wrong until the first demigod was born. He was born to Taellus the god of forms and he had the ability to change into any animal of his choice.
Other humans gave birth to children for these gods who all had supernatural abilities. These people were classified as either caster or shifter based on their abilities. Each human body reacting to mana was what determined their ability not their god parent.
The almighty God saw all these and sent the Archangel Calliel to stop them being the most powerful angel in heaven and he did as he was sent chasing all the gods back to Olympium where they came from and banning them from ever mixing with any human. During his time here he fell in love with a beautiful human and they had twins before he went back to heaven and these were the first magicians the world recorded.
Unlike the new magicians they had wings like angels and their power was way stronger than that of all supernaturals put together. Centuries later the demigods have had children and grandchildren and further more descendants. These descendants were less powerful but they also had very strong mana.
War started in Olympium among Taellus and Haeclus and Taellus decided to use all the descendants as his soldiers. The war went on for a while until Haeclus realised he had enough of the loss of his people due to the magic used by the descendants so he casted a huge darkness that covers the whole army of descendants and kills every single one of them.
The darkness was thick as a fog that no one could see through it so no one could escape death, every single descendant at that warfront died that day and the war was won by Haeclus as Taellus escaped to Olympium.
Days later after all the soldiers that died have been buried they all crawled from the ground alive and healthy but had a crazy craving for blood. Human blood was sweet but supernatural blood was the best so they went on a feeding rampage and left bodies at their wake. Nobody and nothing can kill them and they were exceptionally strong and all their senses and abilities were heightened but they lost their magical ability.
Though they had mana the former shifter couldn't shift anymore and the former casters couldn't cast anymore, they could only manipulate the element. They soon realised that they could only live on blood and if they don't drink they would die and that was how the undead came to be.
Though most people say it was Haeclus that brought them back after he realised they were not his enemy nobody can say exactly how those people came to be. This is the real history of supernaturals and the Great War of the gods." He finishes and it was time for my questions
"So we are all the descendants of two gods" I ask and he shakes his head
"There are numerous gods and each of them have a family that descends from them so no" he replies
"Now where does the god Phelien enter the picture" I ask and he smiles again. Now this is getting weird, how does he smile twice in a day
"Her children were the most powerful casters due to their direct connection to nature and all it entails and she was the one who made the son of the king of gods Taellus the King over the whole world starting our monarchy." he replies and I nod my head as I let it all sink in
"What of Haeclus didn't he have any child" I ask so interested in that god since he is the only one who understands this element of mine. I make a mental note to read all I can on him whenever I have the time to visit the library.
"Being the god of the dead and the underworld he kept to himself so there is no family that is recorded to have descended from him meaning he didn't have any relationship with any human whatsoever" he replies and I nod my head a little excited and I don't know why but I just feel a different connection to this god.
I was thinking about all of it when my mind went back to my father's letter. He called me his little demigod and now that Karl said all the gods have been banned from having any relationship with humans does that mean that is just a nickname or something. I have promised myself I won't think about it but it has not been easy. I push it to the back of my mind and focus back on Karl.
Very soon I will get the answers to my questions when I finally find him.
