Chapter 65 - Jessie vs. Oakley, the Top Eight Showdown

The episode starts with the camera focusing on Cassidy slowly opening her eyes after slumbering. "Huh? Where am I?" She tries to get up, but she can't as it's revealed that Cassidy is tied up to a chair as she struggles to get out. "What the hell?!"

Cassidy's confused yelling causes Butch and Mondo to wake up. "Where am I?!" Butch questions while trying to get out of the chair, but he's tied up along with Mondo.

"I think we've been kidnapped, people!" Mondo looked around the area and it was a hotel room complete with a bed and a TV.

The Team Rocket trio hears a feminine voice responding to Mondo. "Congrats, Sherlock, you figured it out." The woman reveals herself to the trio and it was Samantha along with her Persian.

"Persian!" Persian cries out.

"You cheerleader bitch! Untie us right now!" Cassidy starts struggling to get out but it is no use.

"If you want to live, I advise you to stop trying to escape because it's not happening," Samantha says.

"Why did you kidnap us?!" Mondo asked. "We're bad guys like you, we could've worked together, made an arrangement, or something!"

"That's easy because you three keep getting in my way of succeeding in my mission and I can't have you three running around, can I?" Samantha answered. "Sure, we're both people working for a criminal organization, but unlike you three, I focus more on succeeding in my missions and taking my job more seriously."

Cassidy growls before shouting a yell. "Muk, break out and save us!" But nothing happens, causing Cassidy to be confused. "What?! Why isn't Muk breaking out?! That purple sludge always breaks out of its Poké Ball randomly!"

"I don't think either of your Pokémon are helping you too." Samantha holds up a cage containing all of Team Rocket's Poké Balls in it with chains around them so that no Pokémon can break out. "I'm not that stupid, you know?"

Mondo and Butch look at the cage, both of them frown and start naming their Pokémon. "Marowak… Ditto…" "Primeape…"

Cassidy growls right at Samantha. "You're never getting away with this! You heard me?! Never!"

Samantha turns around and starts heading towards the door to leave her hotel room. "That's where you're wrong. I will succeed, I always succeed in my missions. Just be happy that I let the TV be on so that you can watch the rest of the Kanto League Tournament." She opens the door and leaves before closing it.

The title screen shows.

"Jessie vs. Oakley, the Top Eight Showdown"

The scene cuts to the Indigo Stadium as the full six-on-six battle between Jessie and Oakley is about to begin. "Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome our two competitors in this full six-on-six top 8 league battle! Introducing first, from Pallet Town, give it up for Jessie!"

Jessie appears from the locker room, along with her Meowth, in the stadium. The crowd explodes in cheers as she happily waves in every direction. "Thank you, I love you all!"

The announcer begins introducing the other competitor. "And her opponent, from Saffron City, let's give a round of applause for Oakley!"

The crowd explodes into more cheers as Oakley makes her appearance from the locker room to the other side of the battlefield stadium. "I'm so popular!"

"You're going to root for Jessie, right, James?" Domino asked.

James blushes in embarrassment and rubs the back of his head. "Y-yes?"

Domino and Annie both glare at James. "You're serious, right?" Annie asked.

"Hey! Why are you getting up on me when you're not rooting for your sister?!" James called out.

Now it was Annie's turn to blush. She just looks away and crosses her arms. "Sh-shut up."

Domino groans and facepalms. "I'm surrounded by idiots…"

"Azurill…" Azurill looks like it was about to cry from what Domino just said.

"Oh! No! No! Not you, Azurill, you will always be my little genius Pokémon." Domino chuckles and pets her baby blue mouse Pokémon.

"Azurill!" Azurill cries out happily.

"Before we begin the battle, let's give a warm welcome to the Elite Four and our Champion watching this battle go down!" The announcer says.

Domino, James, and Annie all look to see the Elite Four members, Will, Lorelei, Bruno, and Agatha all on different sides of the crowd area once more, and the champion Lance in the skybox once more like last battle. Domino sighs. "Lorelei isn't in the area I'm in this time, she's in the opposite crowd area."

"Why don't you just talk to her or something since you appreciate her so much?" James asked.

Domino blushes. "M-me talking to her? I'm not worthy to talk to an Elite Four member! Besides, even if I try to approach her, I bet security will tackle me before I even get a chance."

"Guys, the battle is about to start, here comes the ref!" Annie pointed out.

The referee arrives in the middle of the battlefield, holding two flags in his hands. "Okay, Jessie has heads and Oakley has tails!" They flip a coin and after catching it, the coin shows Pikachu's tail, signaling its tails. "It is tails, so Jessie will be sending out the first Pokémon!"

Jessie pulls out a Poké Ball. "Gengar, I'm choosing you first!" She sends out her first Pokémon, Gengar, onto the battlefield

Gengar materializes. "Gengar!"

"A Gengar huh? Then I'll choose you, Electrode!" Oakley sends out Electrode first onto the battlefield.

Electrode materializes. "Electrode!"

James expresses in confusion. "What? Why would Oakley send out Electrode when it knows a lot of normal type moves more than other types which are immune to Gengar?"

"I guess Oakley is already throwing in the towel." Domino assumed.

Annie shakes her head no. "I don't think so. My sister always has a trick up her sleeve."

"Alright Jess, get the first win for us!" Meowth says.

Jessie turns to her Meowth and nods with a smile, pumping her fist up. "You better believe it!"

The referee holds up the two flags, signaling the beginning of the battle. "May the battle officially begin!"

"Since I sent out my Pokémon first, I'll go first! Gengar, use Shadow Ball!" Jessie commanded.

"Gengar!" Gengar's hands spark with blue electricity. It then puts its hands together, forms a black ball of energy, and shoots it at Electrode.

"Electrode, use Light Screen!" Oakley countered.

"Electrode!" Electrode summons a yellow glass-like barrier and Gengar's Shadow Ball gets deflected off, then it disappears.

"Oh, so you have Light Screen huh?" Jessie rhetorically asked. "Well, Electrode won't be using it when I put it to sleep! Gengar, Hypnosis, let's go!"

"Gengar!" Gengar's eyes start glowing red as Electrode stares right into the red-glowing eyes of the shadow Pokémon and then falls asleep.

Jessie laughs. "Ha! Looks like you can't do anything now!"

However, Oakley smirks. "You might want to get your facts straight, Jessie. Electrode, use Sleep Talk!"

Jessie's eyes widened in shock. "No way!"

Despite being asleep, Electrode rolls directly at Gengar, hitting the Pokémon and dealing damage. "Gengar!" Gengar shouts out in pain.

"Gengar, are you okay?!" Jessie asked, making sure.

Gengar floats back onto the battlefield and nods. "Gengar!"

"What move did Electrode use when Oakley commanded Sleep Talk?" Domino asked."

"I think that move was Rollout that Electrode used," James answered.

"See? Oakley always has an answer against Jessie's strategy." Annie says.

"You thought you had me there, huh, Jessie?" Oakley chuckles.

"Oh yeah? Well, your Electrode is still asleep, so Gengar, use Dream Eater!" Jessie commanded.

"Gengar!" Gengar releases a shadow-like version of itself, as it begins floating towards Electrode.

"I don't think so, Jessie. Electrode, use Sleep Talk again!" Oakley countered.

Electrode starts rolling towards Gengar again despite being asleep, using Rollout once more.

However, Jessie also commands a counter as well. "Dodge it, Gengar!"

Gengar quickly floats up in the air to dodge Electrode's Rollout, the shadow-like version of Gengar goes through the sphere Pokémon, sucking its energy all up and restoring its health.

Electrode slowly looks up, not looking so good from its energy getting sucked up by Dream Eater. "Electrode…"

Jessie commands her next move, trying to end this round. "Now use Shadow Ball!"

"Gengar!" Gengar forms a black ball of energy from its blue electrical hands that spark together with blue electricity. The shadow Pokémon then shoots the Shadow Ball straight at Electrode.

"I don't think so, Jessie! Electrode, use Mirror Coat!" Oakley countered.

"Electrode!" Electrode gets surrounded by a white aura as soon as the Shadow Ball tries to hit the sphere Pokémon, it gets deflected right back at Gengar and hits the Pokémon with twice as much damage as before.

"Gengar!" Jessie called out, worried about her Pokémon.

Gengar is revealed on the ground and has fainted from its own Shadow Ball. "Gengar…"

The referee holds up the red flag to declare the round. "Gengar is unable to battle, Oakley wins this round!"

Domino is amazed at what just happened. "Wow, that caught me off guard. Jessie's already down to one Pokémon."

James shoots a glare at her. "And I thought you wanted me to cheer for Jessie, but you're amazed by Oakley beating Jessie's Pokémon."

Dominos chuckles and rubs her head embarrassingly. "It's different hehe…"

Annie chuckles. "Oakley isn't going to be an easy opponent for Jessie, that's for sure."

"Jessie, you said you would get the first round for us!" Meowth says with a disappointed look.

"Oakley caught me off guard with that Mirror Coat! Gengar, return!" Jessie recalls Gengar back in its Poké Ball.

"Hmm, I feel like switching out too. Electrode, you also return!" Oakley also recalls Electrode back in its Poké Ball.

Jessie pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Scizor, I choose you!"

Scizor materializes on the battlefield. "Scizor!"

Oakley also pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Then I'll choose you, Hypno!"

Hypno materializes on the battlefield. "Hypno!"

"I don't get it, why are you sending out Pokémon that are weak against my Pokémon on the battlefield?" Jessie questioned.

"Oh you know, just trying to prove a point on why education is worthless. Hypno, use Future Sight!" Oakley commanded.

Hypno's eyes turn blue for a little bit as nothing happens right now at the moment as Jessie is just standing there and looking at it. "So, what does it do?"

Oakley chuckles. "You'll find out soon enough."

"If that's the case then Scizor, use Sword Dance!" Jessie commanded.

"Scizor!" Scizor crosses its claws as swords appear, circling the pincer Pokémon, increasing its attack by two stages.

"Psychic attack!" Oakley commanded.

"Double Team!" Jessie countered.

Hypno's eyes started turning red this time as Scizor made illusion copies of itself, only for Hypno to pick the real Scizor and fling the pincher Pokémon to the wall for damage with its psychic powers. "Scizor!" Scizor cries out in pain.

Jessie grits her teeth in frustration. "That didn't work!"

Oakley snickers. "Maybe you should go to a league admissions exam! Don't you know that you can't fool a psychic type like Hypno?" However, her eyes widened from what she just said and she started talking in her thoughts. "Wait… would've I known that if I didn't go there?" Oakley just shakes her head to snap herself back to reality and commands her next move. "Use Meditate, Hypno!"

"Hypno!" Hypno sits on the ground and starts meditating to increase its attack power.

Jessie commands her next move. "Scizor, use Metal Claw!"

One of Scizor's claws glows metallic as the pincher Pokémon dashes to Hypno to try to strike, but unfortunately, Scizor gets hit by a sphere of rainbow-colored energy out of nowhere. "Scizor!" Scizor falls onto the ground from the attack.

Jessie was in disbelief at what she just witnessed. "What was that?!"

"Remember when I told my Hypno to use Future Sight and nothing happened during that turn?" Oakley reminded. "You see, Jessie, Future Sight works by a sphere of energy striking an opponent's Pokémon in a random turn at any given time. Pretty surprising, huh?"

Scizor slowly gets up, still able to battle but looks exhausted. "S-Scizor…"

"I learned all of that in the Pokémon League Admissions Exam!" Oakley realizes what she just said. "D-did I just say that out loud?" She says in her mind.

Annie looks amazed from the crowd. "Wow, my sis was listening after all!"

Jessie sees Scizor tired and decides to recall the Pokémon. "Scizor, return!"

Oakley decides to also recall her Pokémon, Hypno, as well. "Hypno, you return as well!"

Both Jessie and Oakley pull out a Poké Ball and send out their next Pokémon. "Blastoise, I choose you!" "Kingler, let's go!"

Blastoise materializes on Jessie's side of the battlefield and Kingler materializes on Oakley's side, both Pokémon sending out their battle cry. "Blastoise!" "Coo kee!"

Jessie commands her first move for Blastoise. "Blastoise, use Rain Dance!"

Blastoise fires two orbs of water from its hydro cannons into the sky at the sun. Then a few seconds pass, gray clouds start forming and then rain happens on the battlefield.

Oakley raises an eyebrow. "I don't know what's your strategy here since Kingler is also a water type, but use Crabhammer, Kingler!"

"Withdraw into your shell, Blastoise!" Jessie quickly commanded.

Blastoise quickly withdraws into its shell as one of Kingler's claws starts glowing white and then starts striking the shell of Blastoise.

"If a simple Crabhammer isn't working then I'll have Kingler use Guillotine!" Oakley commanded.

Meanwhile, in the crowd, Annie's eyes widened. "Oh no…"

"What is it, Annie?" Domino questioned.

"It's the move, Guillotine! If that move lands, it deals so much damage that it's basically one KO move!" Annie explained.

Domino's eyes widened in shock. "WHAT?!"

"Come on Guillotine, hit Blastoise!" James looks over to see Domino glaring at him. "I mean, come on Blastoise, don't get hit…"

Back to the battle, Kingler's claws glow even whiter as it has the strength to pick up Blastoise's shell and throw the Pokémon in the air.

Jessie's eyes widened in shock. "What?!"

Once Blastoise withdraws out of its shell from being in the air, Kingler jumps towards it, about to grab Blastoise by the neck with its glowing white claws.

Jessie quickly commands a move. "Hydro Pump!"

Blastoise blasts a jet of water from its cannons right to Kingler and the crab Pokémon gets splattered with water and crashes back into the ground. However, that wasn't it as Blastoise fell right on top of Kingler from descending from the air, crushing it.

"KINGLER!" Oakley called out.

Blastoise rolls off of Kingler and the crab Pokémon has fainted from the battle.

The referee holds up the green flag. "Kingler is unable to battle, therefore this round goes to the green corner!"

Oakley recalls her Pokémon, looking at Jessie. "I guess you knew that Guillotine is a one-hit move, which is why you commanded Blastoise to use Hydro Pump quickly?"

Jessie's eyes widened, not knowing about that at all. "Guillotine was a one-hit move?!"

Oakley growls. "Nevermind…" She recalls Kingler back in her Poké Ball and pulls out a different one. "Rhydon, I choose you!" Oakley sends out Rhydon to battle.

Rhydon materializes, roaring into battle, and then the Pokémon stares down Blastoise.

"I hope you realize that Blastoise has an advantage over Rhydon and I will make sure to end this by one move! Blastoise, use Rain Dance!" Jessie commanded.

"Blastoise!" Blastoise fires two orbs of water from its hydro cannons into the sky at the sun. After a few seconds, clouds begin to form and it starts to rain all over the battlefield.

"AH!" Meowth immediately jumps on Jessie's shoulder and hides under her pink hat.

"Rhydon, use Scary Face!" Oakley commanded.

Rhydon makes a scary face, looking directly at Blastoise. The shellfish Pokémon looks scared as its speed falls.

"Don't be scared of that! End this with Hydro Pump!" Jessie commanded.

Blastoise blasts jets of water from its cannons right at Rhydon.

"Dodge it, Rhydon, quickly!" Oakley countered.

Rhydon jumps out of the way to the right to avoid the Hydro Pump.

Oakley immediately commands her first move. "Now Rhydon, use Take Down!"

Rhydon roars out loud before dashing towards Blastoise.

"Dodge it, Blastoise!" Jessie countered.

However, even with Jessie commanding her Blastoise to dodge, Rhydon was still able to charge right at Blastoise, dealing damage. "BLASTOISE!" Blastoise cries out in pain.

Jessie's eyes widened. "Rhydon was too fast for Blastoise to dodge. What the hell?"

"You could say my Rhydon was fast, or you could also say that your Blastoise was just a little slow, huh? Rhydon, use Scary Face!"

Jessie now soon realizes and quietly talks to herself. "That Scary Face lowers Blastoise's speed! She must be planning something." She directs Blastoise to counter out loud. "Blastoise, close your eyes, and don't look at Rhydon!"

Rhydon makes a scary face, but Blastoise closes its eyes before looking directly at it, now the shellfish Pokémon is just seeing blackness.

Oakley smirks and chuckles. "Now your Blastoise can't see and if they open their eyes, Blastoise gets another look of Rhydon's Scary Face! Rhydon, Take Down!"

Rhydon charges recklessly right at Blastoise and deals a lot of damage with the shellfish Pokémon screaming in more pain. "BLASTOISE!"

Jessie grits her teeth. "Blastoise, Hydro Pump!"

Blastoise blasts jets of water from its cannons, but misses Rhydon because of its eyes being closed.

Jessie growls. "I need Blastoise's eyes open to hit moves but if I order Blastoise to do that, they get another shot of Scary Face!"

Oakley chuckles once more. "A smart strategy huh? What education will do to ya with your battle skills! Rhydon, end this with Horn Drill!"

Rhydon roars very loudly as its horn starts spinning like a drill before dashing toward Blastoise.

"BLASTOISE, WITHDRAW INTO YOUR SHELL, QUICK!" Jessie countered with a yell.

Blastoise quickly withdraws into its shell before Rhydon stabs the shellfish Pokémon with its spinning drill right on its shell, saving itself from being automatically knocked out.

Oakley grits her teeth. "You got lucky this time, but the second Blastoise withdraws out of its shell, it's getting a taste of Horn Drill!"

Jessie starts thinking inside of her mind, trying to think of a strategy. "Blastoise has to close its eyes or it gets hit by another Scary Face and then Blastoise is finished with Ryhdon's one-hit Horn Drill… wait a minute, Blastoise can only see Rhydon's lower half while they're in their shell, right? That's it!"

Oakley sees Jessie thinking and laughs. "You can't think yourself out of this one, Jessie!"

Jessie smirks. "Think again, Oakley! Blastoise, open your eyes and use Hydro Pump while you're still in your shell!"

"WHAT?!" Oakley yelled out in disbelief.

Blastoise opens its eyes while still being inside its shell and Jessie's prediction was right, only seeing Rhydon's lower half. The shellfish Pokémon blast jets of water, a direct hit fight on Rhydon, and because of the Rain Dance, Hydro Pumps deal even more damage. Rhydon roars out in so much pain before falling to the ground and fainting. Blastoise then withdrew out of its shell once Rhydon fainted.

The referee holds up the green flag. "Rhydon is unable to battle! Therefore this round goes to the green corner!"

After the referee declares the round, the sky over the battlefield clears out, signaling the end for Rain Dance as Meowth peeks out from under Jessie's hat. "Is it safe to come out now?" He hops back onto the ground.

"Wow, that was some strategy by Jessie. I bet the Pokémon League Exams didn't teach that, right?" Domino looks at Annie and chuckles.

Annie nods at Domino's statement. "Jessie is full of surprises, indeed."

"Yep! Yep!" James nervously chuckles, not expressing who he's cheering for.

"Rhydon, return!" Oakley recalls her Rhydon back in its Poké Ball, before pulling out a different Poké Ball. "I have to say, Jessie, that was a pretty smart strategy, but let's see how you deal with my ace! Vileplume, I choose you!" She sends out Vileplume to battle against Blastoise.

Vileplume materializes. "Vileplume!"

Jessie starts thinking inside of her thoughts again. "I have to watch out because Blastoise has a disadvantage." She commands her battle move out loud. "Blastoise, use Skull Bash!"

"Blastoise!" Blastoise starts charging at Vileplume, about to bash its skull against it.

"I don't think so! Vileplume, use Sweet Scent!" Oakley countered.

Vileplume blasts pink powder from its flower right at Blastoise and it hits the shellfish Pokémon, slowing it down, and making it feel more relaxed.

Oakley clutches her fists. "And remember, just because my Rhydon is knocked out doesn't mean its effects on your Blastoise just randomly go away! Vileplume, use Petal Dance!"

"Vileplume!" Vileplume stretches the opening on its flower at Blastoise and releases pink petals, hitting the relaxed shellfish Pokémon. Blastoise falls to the ground and faints from battle.

The referee holds up the red flag. "Blastoise is unable to battle therefore the winner of this round goes to the red corner!"

"Blastoise, return!" Jessie recalls Blastoise back in its Poké Ball before pulling out a different one. "I know this Vileplume is strong, but you have the advantage! Rapidash, I choose you!" She sends Rapidash onto the battlefield.

Rapidash materializes. "Neigh!"

"Do you think Jessie can take down your sister's Vileplume with Rapidash?" Domino asked Annie.

Annie has a not-so-confident look on her face as she answers Domino's question. "I don't know… even with the type advantage, Oakley's Vileplume is just too strong. She's been training that Pokémon ever since she was little and it was just an Oddish."

"Guys, remember, even when the odds are not in her favor, Jessie will somehow find a way to come on top," James says.

"Azurill!" Azurill cries out cheerfully.

Oakley commands the first move of the round. "Vileplume, use Sweet Scent!"

"Vileplume!" Vileplume releases pink powder from its flower right at Rapidash.

"Rapidash, use your Agility to avoid it!" Jessie countered.

Rapidash starts running in circles around Vileplume, avoiding the Sweet Scent. Vileplume tries to keep up with Rapidash, but the fire horse Pokémon is just too fast for it.

Jessie takes the advantage by immediately commanding her next move. "Now use Stomp!"

Rapidash stops moving around circles, right behind Vileplume, and gives the flower Pokémon a shock by kicking it with its hind legs, flinging the Pokémon.

"Vileplume!" Vileplume cries out in pain before hitting the battlefield wall. Vileplume immediately gets up, still able to battle.

"I guess a stomp and hitting the wall isn't good enough!" Jessie says with a serious expression.

"It's going to take a lot to knock out my Vileplume. Now watch all of that damage you dealt disappear! Vileplume, use Absorb!"

Vileplume sends a green orb right at Rapidash, it starts moving around the fire horse Pokémon while Rapidash is looking directly at the green orb.

"Rapidash?" Rapidash cries out in confusion before the green orb starts sucking energy from Rapidash. "Rapidash!" The fire horse Pokémon cries out in pain.

The green orb fades away and Vileplume's health is restored from the damage the flower Pokémon took earlier. "Vileplume!"

"Well allow me to bring that damage back from even worse damage! Rapidash, use Fire Blast!" Jessie commanded.

"Neigh!" Rapidash opens its mouth and sends out a huge flame, shaped like the kanji, right at Vileplume and hitting the fire Pokémon.

"VILEPLUME!" Vileplume screams out in a lot of pain from taking a lot of damage from that super-effective move but is still standing.

"You gotta be kidding, not even a fire-type move can take it down?!" Jessie questioned in disbelief.

"Like I said earlier, my Vileplume is going to be a challenge for you! Vileplume, use Absorb once more!" Oakley commanded again.

Vileplume sends another green orb right at Rapidash.

"Rapidash, use your Agility, and get away from that green orb!" Jessie countered.

"Neigh!" Rapidash starts running around the battlefield at an extremely fast speed to avoid the green orb. After a few seconds of running, Rapidash gets tired out, but out of nowhere from behind, the green orb hits the fire horse Pokémon and its energy gets drained. "Neigh!" Rapidash cries out in pain.

Vileplume's health gets restored once more from Rapidash's energy. "Vileplume!"

"That green orb was still able to hit Rapidash, even by trying to dodge it?" Jessie says, in disbelief once more.

"That's years of training for you, Jessie. I've had Vileplume ever since I was a child. Ever since Vileplume was just an Oddish, you know?" Oakley looks directly at Jessie with the most serious expression. "And we're going to win this battle… Vileplume, use Petal Dance!"

Vileplume stretches its big flower right at Rapidash then releases pink petals right at the flame horse Pokémon, hitting Rapidash. Despite not being very effective, Rapidash's exhaustion from running around the battlefield causes it to faint from battle.

The referee holds up the red flag and declares the round. "Rapidash is unable to battle. This round goes to the red corner!"

Jessie stares at Vileplume with a disbelieving look. "I can't believe it… not even Rapidash could take it down."

"Um Jess, could you please use your head? I'm starting to get a little worried here." Meowth says.

"Rapidash, return!" Jessie recalls Rapidash, pulling out a different Poké Ball, a Safari Ball. "Scizor, I choose you!"

Scizor materializes. "Scizor!"

Jessie commands the first move of the round this time. "Scizor, use Swords Dance!"

Scizor crosses its two claws as a bunch of swords appear, swirling around Scizor and raising its attack by two stages.

"Vileplume, use Stun Spore!" Oakley commanded.

"Scizor, Double Team!" Jessie quickly countered.

Scizor quickly makes illusion copies of itself, surrounding the battlefield and confusing Vileplume. "Vileplume?" Vileplume aims its flower at one of the Scizor, thinking it's the real one, before releasing orange dust at it, only hitting an illusion as it disappears.

"Now use Metal Claw!" Jessie commanded.

All of the illusions disappear as one of Scizor's claws becomes metallic, dashing at Vileplume and striking the flower Pokémon with it to deal damage.

"Vileplume!" Vileplume cries out in pain from the Metal Claw, taking damage.

Oakley grits her teeth. "Vileplume, use Absorb!"

"Scizor, use Double Team once more!" Jessie countered.

Scizor creates illusions of itself around the battlefield as Vileplume releases a green orb from its flower. Despite the illusions, the green orb still manages to hit the real Scizor. "Scizor!" Scizor cries out in pain as its energy gets absorbed and its illusions disappear after getting it.

"Vileplume!" Vileplume cheers out happily after having its health restored.

"Not even Double Team could stop that green orb! How do I counter it?!" Jessie asked in disbelief.

"Simple Jessie, you can't! Vileplume, use Stun Spore!" Oakley commanded.

Vileplume releases an orange powder right at Scizor.

"Dodge it, Scizor, don't get paralyzed!" Jessie countered.

"Scizor!" Scizor flies up in the air to dodge the Stun Spore.

"Now use Swords Dance and increase your attack!" Jessie commanded.

While in the air, Scizor crosses its chest with its arms as swords appear and swirl around the pincer Pokémon, increasing its attack some more by two stages.

Jessie starts speaking inside her mind of her strategy. "The only way I'm taking that Vileplume down is to increase Scizor's attack power to where just if one hit lands Vileplume, it's over! Otherwise, Oakley will just use Absorb and regain Vileplume's health back."

"Vileplume, Petal Dance!" Oakley commanded.

Jessie counters with the same move. "Use Double Team, Scizor!"

Scizor creates illusions around the battlefield once more as Vileplume fires pink petals from its flowing, hitting an illusion.

"Swords Dance!" Jessie immediately commanded.

The illusions disappear as Scizor crosses its chest with its claws, and swords appear, swirling around Scizor as its attack power increases to maximum strength.

"I know what you're trying to do, Jessie, but it isn't going to work! Use Stun Spore, Vileplume, quick!" Oakley commanded.

"Vileplume!" Vileplume immediately releases orange powder right at Scizor before Jessie can command Scizor Double Team, paralyzing and causing Scizor not to fly, so the pincher Pokémon drops down to the ground, taking damage.

"Oh no, Scizor!" Jessie exclaimed in fear.

Scizor gets back up, still able to battle, but static electricity surrounds the pincher Pokémon as Scizor cries out in pain. "Scizor!"

"End this! Use Petal Dance, Vileplume!" Oakley commanded.

Jessie screams out her counter move. "SCIZOR, TRY YOUR BEST TO FIGHT THE PARALYSIS AND USE METAL CLAW!"

As Vileplume was getting ready to use its move, Scizor was able to fight the paralysis and started running towards Vileplume while one of its claws became metallic. "Vileplume!" "Scizor!" Both Pokémon shout their battle cry before Vileplume releases pink petals from its flower and Scizor strikes Vileplume with its metallic claw, causing dust to surround the area.

Both Jessie and Oakley shield their faces with their hands from the dust as they look at the battlefield once the dust clears. "Huh?"

Scizor and Vileplume are both down on the ground, not moving a muscle at all. The referee was able to hold up both flags to declare the round as a draw, but they all noticed one of the Pokémon started moving and slowly got up, still somehow able to battle and that was Vileplume.

"Vile…plume…" Vileplume starts breathing heavily.

Oakley smiles in delight. "Vileplume, you're still able to battle. I knew you could take that Metal Claw like a tough Pokémon!"

"No way! Scizor?!" Jessie looks at her Scizor and the pincher Pokémon is still on the ground, completely out of it.

The referee holds up the red flag. "Scizor is unable to battle. This round goes to the red corner!"

Domino, James, and Annie were all shocked by what they just experienced. "No way… Vileplume is still standing despite all of Scizor's Swords Dances!" Domino says.

"Even I'm shocked! I have never seen Oakley's Vileplume this determined to win!" Annie added.

"Now there's a Pokémon with a determined heart!" James stated.

"Scizor, you did the best you could and you deserve a nice long rest. Return!" Jessie recalls Scizor back in its Safari Ball.

"How are we going to take down that Vileplume, Jess?!" Meowth asked in disbelief, a little worried.

"I don't know how, but even being down four to two, I'm not giving up!" Jessie pulls out a Poké Ball. "Electabuzz, I choose you!" Jessie sends out her Electabuzz next in the battle.

Electabuzz materializes. "ELEBUBUBU!"

Oakley stares at the Electabuzz before looking at her tired-out Vileplume. "Vileplume, you did amazing, but return for now!" She recalls Vileplume back in its Poké Ball.

Jessie raises an eyebrow. "You're not going to use Absorb again?"

Oakley pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Oh, you will see. Arcanine, I choose you!" She sends out Arcanine to face off against Electabuzz.

Arcanine materializes before howling as its battle cry.

Oakley commands the first move of the battle. "Use Extreme Speed, Arcanine!"

Arcanine starts running so fast that before Jessie can even call out a counter, Arcanine already strikes Electabuzz and deals damage.

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz cries out in pain but is still standing.

Jessie's eyes widened. "That's one fast Pokémon. Electabuzz, use Screech!"

Electabuzz screeches at Arcanine. "ELEBUBUBU!" Causing Arcanine's defense to lower.

"Arcanine, use Flamethrower!" Oakley commanded.

Arcanine opens its mouth and releases flames of fire right at Electabuzz.

"Electabuzz, use Light Screen!" Jessie countered.

Electabuzz puts its hands in front of its body and a clear or yellow glass-like screen of energy appears in front of them. Arcanine's flamethrower gets deflected from the yellow glass-like screen, protecting Electabuzz.

"Now use Thunder!" Jessie commanded.

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz shoots powerful electricity from its two antennas from its head right at Arcanine. Arcanine roars in pain before fainting from the battle.

The referee holds up the green flag. "Arcanine is unable to battle. The winner of this round goes to the green corner!"

Jessie pumps up her fist in excitement. "And that's how it's done! Way to go, Electabuzz!"

Electabuzz looks at its trainer with a smile. "Elebububu!"

Oakley starts talking to herself quietly. "So that's how strong that Electabuzz is, huh? I need to take it out immediately." She recalls her Arcanine back in its Poké Ball. "Arcanine, return!"

James sheds a tear. "I don't know why but I can't just see an Arcanine faint. I think of my little Growlie!"

Domino sighs. "Come on, James…"

Oakley pulls out Electrode'sPoké Ball. "Electrode, you're back on the battlefield!"

Electrode materializes. "Electrode!"

Jessie commands the first move of the round. "Electabuzz, use Screech!"

Electabuzz screeches right at Electrode. "ELEBUBUBU!" Causing the ball Pokémon's defense to drop.

"Electrode, use Rollout!" Oakley commanded.

"Electrode!" Electrode starts rolling like a ball straight to Electabuzz and hits the Pokémon.

"Elebububu!" Electabuzz cries out in pain, not realizing that Electrode is behind it and still rolling.

Jessie tries to warn Electabuzz with a shout. "ELECTABUZZ, BEHIND YOU!"

"Elebububu?" Electabuzz looks behind them, but it is too late as the electric Pokémon gets hit by an even more powerful Rollout than the first one, screaming in more pain. Electabuzz gets up, only to get hit again by the rolling Electrode with more power than before.

As Electabuzz gets up from the ground again, looking tired, Jessie sees the rolling Electrode coming straight at Electabuzz once more with more power. "ELECTABUZZ, USE THUNDER!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz shouts a battle cry releasing powerful electricity right at Electrode hitting the ball Pokémon, before getting hit by the very powerful Rollout and faints from the battle.

The referee holds up the red flag. "Electabuzz is unable to battle, the victor goes to the red corner!"

Electrode stops spinning after hearing the referee declaring Electabuzz has fainted.

"Nice job, Electrode, you did it!" Oakley praises.

"Electrode!" Electrode looks back at its trainer and cries happily, before closing its eyes and now has an uncomfortable look on its face.

"Um, Electrode, are you okay?" Oakley asked, concerned.

All of a sudden, Electrode starts glowing white and then explodes, knocking itself out, and leaving everyone in shock, including Jessie. The referee holds up the green flag. "My apologies, since Electrode is also now unable to battle, this round is a draw!"

"ELECTRODE!" Oakley screamed out in shock.

Jessie scratches her head. "Uhh, what just happened?"

Meanwhile in the crowd. "I knew what happened," Annie says.

Both Domino and James looked at Annie with confused looks. "I think Jessie doesn't even know either. What happened?" Domino asked.

Annie starts explaining. "You see when Jessie commanded her Electabuzz to use Thunder, Electrode must've absorbed all of that powerful electricity. Because of having too much electricity in its system, Electrode couldn't take it, which resulted in Electrode exploding. It's like pumping too much air into a ball, the ball will eventually explode from having too much air in it."

"That makes so much sense now. I guess Jessie intentionally thought of something smart." James chuckles.

Back to the battle, both Jessie and Oakley recall their Pokémon. "Electabuzz, return!" "Electrode, return!"

"I don't know what just happened, but your luck is now going to run out, Jessie!" Oakley pulls out Hypno's Poké Ball. "Hypno, you're back into the fight!" She sends Hypno back into the battle.

Hypno materializes. "Hypno!"

Jessie looks at Meowth. "Alright Meowth, you're the only Pokémon I got. I believe in you!"

"I'm going to give it my all, Jess!" Meowth hops onto the battlefield, staring down at Hypno.

"Hypno, use Future Sight!" Oakley commanded.

Hypno's eyes and whole body glow light blue as if nothing happened.

"Be careful, Meowth, Future Sight can strike at any time!" Jessie warned. "Use Thunderbolt!"

"Time to get zapped!" Meowth's fur starts flowing with electricity, releasing it directly towards Hypno.

"I don't think so, Jessie! Hypno, redirect that Thunderbolt back with Psychic!" Oakley countered.

Hypno stares directly at the Thunderbolt heading towards it, before hypnosis Pokémon starts waving its pendulum. "Hypno!" Meowth's Thunderbolt starts glowing in a blue aura as Hypno controls it, sending it back towards Meowth.

"AH!" Meowth starts running around the battlefield while his own Thunderbolt is chasing him. "This is so not cool here!"

Jessie starts to think fast before Meowth gets tired out, she stares at Hypno's pendulum. "Meowth, run right towards Hypno and grab that pendulum!"

"Got it!" Meowth starts dashing towards Hypno while his Thunderbolt is chasing him. Meowth slides under Hypno's legs and grabs the pendulum. "I'll take this, thank you very much!"

"Hypno?!" Hypno cries out in shock before getting electrocuted by the Thunderbolt. "HYPNO!" Hypno cries out in pain.

"No! Not the pendulum! Your Meowth better give it back!" Oakley demanded.

"Do you want this, ugly?" Meowth starts waving Hypno's pendulum in front of it with a laugh, not realizing that a sphere of rainbow-colored energy has appeared behind him and heading towards Meowth, which is Future Sight.

"MEOWTH, BEHIND YOU, JUMP OUT ALL OF THE WAY!" Jessie warned.

"OH SHIT!" Meowth quickly jumps out of the way, dodging the Future Sight by a hair, and ends up hitting Hypno.

"HYPNO!" Hypno cries out in even more pain.

Oakley grits her teeth in frustration. "I can't believe my strategies have backfired on me!"

"Now use Bite, Meowth!" Jessie commanded.

Meowth jumps in the air and bites Hypno on the head while coming down, before jumping back to its side of the battlefield as Hypno falls to the ground and faints.

The referee holds up the green flag. "Hypno is unable to battle! The winner of this round is the green corner!"

"Nice job, Meowth, but you know who's next up to the plate, right?" Jessie asked.

Meowth nods without looking at his trainer. "I'm ready, Jess."

"Hypno, return!" Oakley recalls Hypno back in its Poké Ball before pulling out Vileplume's Poké Ball. "It all comes down to this, Jessie. Both of our ace Pokémon battling out, whoever wins moves on to the top four!"

Jessie nods. "Bring on your Vileplume, Oakley!"

"Vileplume, give it all you got!" Oakley sends her Vileplume back onto the battlefield.

Vileplume materializes, but it is too exhausted to say its cry.

Oakley immediately commands the first move. "Vileplume, use Absorb!"

Vileplume releases a green orb from its flower right at Meowth.

"Meowth, try to lose it!" Jessie countered.

"You're not going to catch me, you dumb green orb!" Meowth starts running around the battlefield, trying to lose the green orb, but it is no good as it keeps following Meowth. The talking Pokémon soon becomes exhausted from running, getting hit by the green orb and having its energy sucked. "OW!"

Vileplume's health regains from Meowth's energy, as the flower Pokémon doesn't look exhausted anymore. "Vileplume!"

Jessie realizes. "So that's why you didn't use Absorb on Electabuzz earlier!"

Oakley chuckles. "Yep! I saved it for your last Pokémon, making my future victory easier to reach!"

Jessie growls. "Yeah, right! Meowth, use Fury Swipes!"

Meowth's claws start to glow white and become sharper. "I will not lose to you!" The talking Pokémon started swiping Vileplume, swipe after swipe after five of them while Vileplume was crying in pain on each swipe.

"Use Absorb once more!" Oakley commanded.

"I don't think so, use Slash, Meowth!" Jessie countered.

Before Vileplume could open its flower, Meowth slashes the flower Pokémon with one of its sharp glowing white claws. "How do you like that?" Meowth says.

Oakley grits her teeth. "Vileplume, use Stun Spore and slow that Meowth!"

"Keep preventing that flower from opening with your Slash attack, Meowth!" Jessie countered.

Vileplume was about to open its flower, but Meowth quickly slashed the flower before it could open, causing Vileplume to cry in more pain, preventing the move from happening. "Vileplume!"

Oakley was in complete disbelief and shock. "What is happening?! How are you doing that?"

"Oakley, I realized that all of Vileplume's attacks come from its big flower," Jessie smirks. "So I just needed a fast enough Pokémon to attack before Vileplume's big flower could open!"

Oakley puts her hands on her head in disbelief. "No! This can't be happening! Vileplume, use Sweet Scent!"

"You know what to do, Meowth! Slash its big flower!" Jessie countered.

Before Vileplume could open its flower, Meowth slashes it with his sharp claws, dealing more damage to Vileplume and preventing its flower from opening.

"Petal Dance!" Oakley commanded.

Vileplume tries to open its big flower, but Meowth is right there and slashes it once more, dealing damage and preventing it from opening.

Oakley has no clue what to do. "… Stun Spore?"

The recycling happens again with Meowth slashing Vileplume while trying to open its flower to use Stun Spore, dealing more damage to the flower Pokémon.

Jessie has a huge smirk across her face. "Want to try that again?"

Oakley growls before screaming out her next move. "ABSORB!"

Jessie clutches her fist. "Alright Meowth, give this one your most powerful slash yet!"

"Take this, you overgrown salad!" With one more powerful slash from Meowth, preventing Vileplume from opening its flower, the flower drops to the ground and officially faints from the battle.

The referee holds up the green flag. "Vileplume is unable to battle. Therefore, the winner of this league battle is the green corner, Jessie!"

The crowd erupts in cheers from what battle they experienced. "Yes, Jessie moves on to the top four!" Domino says with a cheer.

"Azurill!" Azurill cheers happily at seeing Jessie winning.

"Yay! Hooray for Jessie moving on!" James secretly sighs in sadness, seeing Oakley defeated.

Annie was clapping along with the crowd. "I was at the edge of my seat! That was some epic battle there!"

"I knew you could do it, Meowth!" Jessie says with a cheerful smile.

Meowth jumps up to its trainer, hugging her. "Like we said, we're both going to go all the way!"

Oakley looks at her fainted Vileplume, she smiles and recalls them. "You did great Vileplume, I'm very proud of you!"

The scene cuts to the gang and the sisters outside the Indigo Stadium, looking at each other and about to say goodbye. "Aww, do you guys have to leave?" Jessie asked, disappointed.

Annie sadly nods. "Yeah, I mean our hotel room is nice but we do miss our home in Saffron City after all. But hey, me and sis are going to watch you back at home on our TV!"

Oakley walks over to Jessie, offering her a handshake to show sportsmanship. "You did so great, Jessie. That was a great battle between me and you. Good luck with the rest of the tournament and I hope you make it to the Indigo League!"

Jessie happily accepts Oakley's handshake. "Your Vileplume was special. I think it was the most difficult Pokémon I had to go through so far. Thank you Oakley for giving me a challenge!"

"Goodbye! We will miss you two!" Domino says, waving goodbye.

James starts crying her eyes out from seeing Oakley go. "I'll miss you, Oakley!"

Oakley giggles at the sight of James crying before she gives him a goodbye kiss. "I'll miss you too, James." This causes James to immediately faint.

Meowth gags and looks away. "You gotta be kidding me…"

Jessie and Domino waved goodbye to the sisters as they were walking away while waving goodbye back. "Jessie has managed to beat Oakley and move on to the top four! She is very close to winning this whole tournament. Will Jessie succeed? Find out as the journey continues!"
