Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen

I woke up to Elaine lightly tapping my shoulders, trying to wake me up.

"What... What!!!" I exclaimed.

"We have class... everyone is out of the dorm"she whispered

I immediately sat up and rushed to get ready. "This was outside your door"Elaine said to me as I walked out of the shower room, tapping a large box which she has already dragged into the room for me.My clothes

"You seem to be the only person whose things arrived"she said and I gave an awkward smile in return.I put on my uniform and went through my box to fish out a bag I could take and some books

It was too obvious that my mom packed this bag,she packed everything she thought I was going to need and the ones that were completely useless but I smiled nonetheless

I had no idea where the first class would be held, so I followed Elaine's lead, and we got to a massive doorway that was creaked open enough for us to pass through.

The hall had carved stone pillars, enormous stained glass windows giving a glorious view to the beautiful garden below.Rows of polished wooden benches. The room was massive, just as I expected.

There were murmurs going around before everyone's attention went towards the lady in front of the class. There stood a petit Middle Aged woman. Her aura was inviting and yet intimidating.

"Good day, class," she said with a bright smile. Her smile was so infectious I couldn't help but smile back.

"I'm Lady Willow," she said again, "and I will be teaching you everything you need to know about dragons. Some of you were privileged enough to be taught that growing up, and others, not so much."

"Now, this is going to be an interactive class," she continued, and pointing to a guy at the far end of the class, she asked, "What do you know about the history of dragonkind?"

The boy in a raspy voice responded, "There are mystical creatures said to have originated from the chaos of the world," he said, avoiding her gaze.

"That's very good," she said. "Does anyone have anything to add to that?" she asked, but no one said anything. "Are you all afraid to answer me?" she asked, looking around, and again, no one said a thing.

The class continued with questions being tossed around, and before the end of the class, there were laughs, and we got really comfortable with Lady Willow.

"Alright, class... I will see you next class, and maybe then I'll show everyone the powers I got from my dragon," she said, and you could feel the excitement.

We all left the hall and went towards our next class. The next class was the complete opposite of Lady Willow's class. He introduced himself as Professor Galdrid, and that was the only thing I heard in the class. His class was about understanding the nation, how things were run, and the hierarchy of power. It felt like sitting through my fathers lectures growing up

I didn't bother paying attention because I grew up knowing all these and the class so boring I would rather melt my face off than go through these kind of lectures again

The week went in a blur and after finishing my classes for the day, I decided to head to the library. It was a place of solace, my home away from home . As I entered, the hushed atmosphere wrapped around me like a warm embrace.

I selected a book from the shelves and settled into a corner, engrossed in my reading. But an eerie sensation crept over me, as if a pair of eyes were tracing my every move. I dismissed it as paranoia and returned to my book.

However, that unsettling feeling persisted. I couldn't shake the sensation of being watched. I turned around, expecting to see someone nearby, but the space behind me was empty.

I sighed in frustration, chalking it up to the stress of academy life playing tricks on my mind. Yet, as I resumed reading, the prickling sensation returned. I closed the book, my curiosity piqued.

With a cautious glance around, I sensed someone approaching. She possesses a natural allure with a cascade of rich, chestnut-brown hair that flows in soft waves, framing her face Her eyes, a deep and warm shade of brown as she walked towards me

"Elara...right"she said extending her hand with a warm smile "I'm Kyra, nice to meet you"

"Hello Kyra"I said taking her hand in mine

"I know this might sound weird but I want to be friends with you"she said taking her seat across from me "I don't have any ill intentions but I like a friend of yours"

"Which friend"I inquired

She hesitated for a moment, avoiding eye contact. "I saw you were with a guy—the one with brown hair and blue eyes."

"Dain?" I asked

"So that's his name… Dain," she repeated to her self trying to savor it

I couldn't help but laugh "So you want to be friends with me so you could be friends with Dain"I said trying to put everything together and she nodded

That was a first.I was glad I wasn't only attracting enemies. We sat there for a while and we talked about ourselves.Soon after she left leaving me alone with a smile on my face and a new friend

As I left the library, my stomach grumbled with hunger. I had a few books in my arms, the remnants of my reading material for the evening. I decided to grab a quick bite to eat before diving back into my studies.

In my haste, I wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings. It was then that I collided with what felt like a solid wall. My heart raced momentarily, thinking I was about to crash to the ground, but I managed to regain my balance. To my astonishment, the obstacle was none other than my towering Commander

"Elara, are you blind?" I muttered to myself in a moment of self-recrimination.

"I would honestly ask you the same question," Xaden replied flatly before walking away without another word.

I threw him a vulgar gesture as he walked away and I could swear I heard a small laugh

I continued my journey towards the dorm in a contemplative silence, mindful not to run into any more "walls" on the way. Once in my room, I placed the book I had taken from the library onto my bed and decided to freshen up with a quick shower. Afterward, I dressed in a comfortable pair of shorts and a top, ready to head to the cafeteria for dinner.

I hadn't seen Elaine since i left to the Library and decided to go check on her.Her room door was locked so I made my way to the Cafeteria

As I left the dorm, I brought a book with me. I've always been more at ease burying my face in a book than initiating conversations. My footsteps echoed through the corridor, and I sensed someone following behind me.

I turned to see Kyra and we made our way to the cafeteria together in silence

We hadn't spent a long time in the Academy and Kyra had told me a lot of juicy stories.I don't know how she got this information but she kept going on and on as we ate even pointing at them while she whispered

"Did I miss anything"I heard Elaine say from behind me as she sat down

"Elaine,Kyra,Kyra,Elaine"I said as gestured between them and they gave each other a small smile

"So like I was saying do you know Alaric from the Third wing"Kyra said and I shook my head "Well there he is "she pointed at a guy leaning against the wall looking around

"Well he claims Summer is in love with him"she pointed at a big busted girl sitting and laughing amongst her friends

"But we all know he's a liar"Elaine chimed in "Summer's room is right beside mine and I heard him crying this morning begging her not to go see another guy" and we all looked at him feeling a little sad for him

"How do you know--"i trailed off as we heard giggles coming from a group of girl.We turned to see what got their attention,Rhys had just walked in earning him giggles from around

I rolled my eyes so hard it could have fallen into my head. "What was that all about"Elaine said from beside me with a grin on her face nudging me a bit

"I don't know who he thinks he is" I said trying to burn a hole in his head with my eyes

He could feel the stare because he turned and our eyes met

The Commander was one of the most handsome men I had ever seen, with his mismatched eyes-one as blue as the sky and the other as dark as midnight. But I wasn't going to admit that to anyone or show I even cared.

Like it wasn't enough, two others walked in and stood behind him earning more screams

Ladies pull yourselves together

"The things I would do to the one on the right"Kyra said looking over him like he was a snack

"I thought you wanted Dain"I replied with amusement on my face

"Dain is not bad Elara but look at him"she said basically drooling

Elaine hadn't said anything but kept staring at the one on the left "Elaine not you too" I said which dragged her attention back to me with a smile plastered on her face

These were the Leaders of each wing,Bran the one on the left,he has an air of confidence around him with his hands casually tucked in his jeans. His bright blue eyes and sun kissed blond hair exuded a sense of perpetual adventure along with the freckles that danced around his nose

Alden had a quiet and contemplative presence around him.His steps were measured and his dark inquisitive eyes roved around the room taking in every detail. He adjusted his glasses which perched neatly on his nose

All three of them looked like different versions of the same person.Xaden looked bored of the place as he looked around to find where they could sit

They whispered something amongst themselves as they made their way to the counter

Suddenly we heard whistles and shouts coming from everywhere. Now the boys were the ones shouting

A striking girl stood tall with an air of confidence. Her long, golden blond hair flows like a radiant waterfall down her back. Her eyes are a captivating shade of deep, oceanic blue, holding a magnetic allure. Her features are finely chiseled, and her warm and inviting smile is like a beacon, drawing people in with its irresistible charm

"Aurora"I heard Bran say from the counter "You're back"

She nodded as she made her way to the counter

"Hi everyone,My name is Aurora and I'll be leading the Fourth Wing"she said smiling before taking her food and walking out
