As Roenaldo was wallowing in despair, he heard a crackling coming from his headphones. A high-pitched, female voice came in, saying, "Hellooo? Is anyone there?" Roenaldo was brought back to the present, a new hope having arose in him. "Yes," he said with wet eyes, "I'm here!" Another calmer, female voice then said, "Hey, dude, have you been crying?" Hearing this, Roenaldo quickly wiped his eyes and composed himself before saying, "No, of course not! I just, uh, forgot to take my eye drops." He cleared his throat and continued, "Anyway, who are you two? How did you contact me? The bubblier female answered, "I'm glad you asked! I'm Agent 1, and this is Agent 2!" Agent 2 added, "You must be that Agent 3 the captain was telling us about. He was going on about how good of an agent you were, but that's a little hard to believe based on your situation. How did you even end up here?" Roenaldo held his hand to his cheek and responded, "I took the wrong turn while riding some propeller lifts. And I wouldn't be here if Cap'n Cuttlefish wasn't on his fishing trip…wait, did you say that the captain was complimenting me?" Agent 1 responded, "You betcha! In fact, he said that you might be the best agent he's ever seen. Makes me a bit jealous, but I'm still happy for you! Although, I never heard him say that he was going fishing…" Roenaldo nodded, saying, "Yeah, he left a note at his cabin that said exactly that. He even told me to go and relax in Inkopolis Plaza for a while, but I decided to come here anyway." A moment of silence passed before Agent 2 said, "Are you being serious right now?" Roenaldo looked at the cartoon a bit before replying, "What do you mean?" Agent 2 sighed and continued, "I know the captain, and he does not leave notes whenever he wants to go somewhere. In fact, he just we always end up having to track him down whenever he decides to go on a walk! Don't you think that him leaving a note randomly is the tiniest bit suspicious?" As Roenaldo sat there thinking, Agent 1 added, "She's right, Agent 3. The captain recently sent out a distress signal to us. He isn't going fishing, he got fished! He's been squidnapped!"
Hearing this, Roenaldo was completely devastated. He couldn't believe that he had been deceived in this way. Feeling like a dunce, he buried his face in his knees before mumbling, "Oh, how could I be so dumb? First I think that the captain's disappearance is because of him fishing and now I'm sitting in this cell because of my own mistake. Whatever Cuttlefish was saying about me must not be true. I might as well get demoted at this rate…" Agent 1 responded, "Aww, don't put yourself down, Agent 3. Sure, you may have messed up this time, but we can bounce back from this! We're going to work together and get both the captain and the Great Zapfish back! So get up, keep your head up, and let's do this!" Feeling invigorated by this encouragement, Roenaldo rose up and said, "You know what, you're right. I will do my part to save both Inkopolis and our leader! I swear by my 10 tent—" Once again, the Twintacle Octotroopers banged on the bars, shutting Roenaldo up. "Oh yeah," said Agent 1, "You can't really do that while you're here, right? Not to worry! Agent 2, you know what to do!" After a brief period, Roenaldo felt his suit tingling, and he wondered what was happening. Suddenly, his clothes started crackling with electricity, and he convulsed as he got shocked. As this was happening, the lights flickered on and off, the TV started glitching out, and finally the jail cell opened. "Okay," said Agent 2, "I just activated an EMP to disable the locks. Hurry up and get out of there!" Although Roenaldo's skin was still tingling, he had no time to process his pain; all that was on his mind was escape. He bolted past the guard and out of the building, following Agent 2's instructions in order to get back to safe ground.
Thanks to the assistance of the two agents, Roenaldo was able to escape from the large crowd of Octarians and use the earlier propeller lifts to locate the Zapfish of the area. After getting back to the surface using a sent drone, Roenaldo said, "Was it really necessary to shock me like that?" Agent 2 replied, "Maybe the technology is a little faulty. It still worked though, right?" Not having much to say to counter Agent 2's claim, Roenaldo stayed silent. "Okay," said Agent 1, "We're back in business! Ready to show your stuff, Agent 3?" Roenaldo gave a thumbs up, answering, "Definitely! I'm going to make up for my messing up." Agent 1 replied, "I love your enthusiasm! We better get that Zapfish back quick; there's a Splatfest coming up, and the Squid Sisters need power to start it." Roenaldo gasped; he had forgotten about that event. He brandished his gun and said, "Well, that's just another motivator for me. I won't let them down!" With that, Roenaldo swam forward in search of another kettle, which he found in the center of a steel bridge.
Landing at the other end of the pipe, Roenaldo stood in front of a enormous brick building. "Woah," said Agent 1, "Look at the size of this place! What could possibly be inside?" Agent 2 responded, "Beats me, but it could be something dangerous. Stay on your guard, Agent 3." Roenaldo nodded before stepping through the double doors, his Hero Shot at the ready. Waiting on the other side was a huge industrial factory. Many Octarians and Octolings worked tirelessly at conveyer belts, assembling parts for some sort of creation. In fact, they were so busy that they didn't notice Roenaldo come in. "Ooh," said Agent 1 in awe, "So much machinery! Hey, Agent 3, do you think that you can get closer to one of those conveyer belts so that we can see what these people may be trying to build?" Roenaldo looked around, saying, "I'll do my best." Even though Roenaldo's entrance went unnoticed, he figured that moving freely past that point would be riskier. This, he once again took advantage of the objects in the area, darting between boxes full of equipment and crafting stations all while staying aware of any octopi that moved from their position. Soon enough, Roenaldo got within range of one of the conveyer belts, and he ducked behind an oil barrel. "Hmm," said Agent 2, "I see…some wheels…parts of a flat cylinder…and some purple LED eyes. These parts remind me of something, but I don't know what…" Just then, Roenaldo noticed an Octoling pushing a cart towards him. He morphed into a squid to shrink his presence and stuck close to the barrel. Waiting around in a subdued way allowed Roenaldo to notice that some more Octolings were arriving that were also pushing carts; they were all making stops at the end of each conveyer belt, loading the contents into their carriers. Agent 1 then said, "It looks like those workers are taking those parts somewhere. Hmm…this might sound crazy, but I'm thinking that you should hitch a ride in one of those carts! That way, we can learn what these Octarians are making." At first, Roenaldo was extremely doubtful of this idea. However, as he thought about it more, he realized that it was at least worth a shot. So, he watched the line of Octolings as he waited for an opening. He soon found one when one of the Octolings took a moment to catch her breath. Seeing this, Roenaldo flopped as fast as he could across the slick floor, ending up in the bottom shelf of the cart just in the nick of time. The Octoling looked at the floor with a slightly confused expression before shrugging and continuing her job; evidently, she was not in the mood to do anything outside of what she was assigned. Roenaldo then hid himself in a hollow metallic cylinder, slipping through a hole in the object so that he would be unknowingly transported with the rest of the cargo to an unknown destination.
"Ha," laughed Agent 1 "I can't believe that worked! You know, this reminds me of this one movie I saw…" Agent 2 interjected, "Don't talk so loudly, Agent 1. We're trying to be stealthy here. Agent 3, try and see if you can get out of there without drawing attention to yourself." Roenaldo prepared to do that, but he stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the clattering of the parts around him. The Octoling was starting to unload her cart. She began with removing the smaller items before picking up the container that Roenaldo was in. The squid was left helpless as he was carried onto a dense platform, from which he was picked up by what felt to be a mechanical arm. He was then placed onto what seemed to be another conveyer belt, and he could hear the whir of machines starting up. Although Roenaldo could not see what was happening, he could feel many fixtures being attached to the shell he was in, and he tumbled around like a lint ball during the whole process. Eventually, the motion stopped, and Roenaldo was sent along the track at a moderate pace. Just when he thought he could relax, he saw a nozzle enter through the hole at the top of the cylinder. He became extremely horrified when the dispenser ejected purple ink that began to fill the space he was in. In a burst of desperate energy, Roenaldo switched to his humanoid form and pushed as hard as he could against the top of the capsule he was in. Thankfully, the cylinder was not too fortified, and Roenaldo was able to break free, albeit not without splashing some of the purple ink on his legs. However, he was now fully exposed to every Octarian in the room, and some of them were armed. At this point, Roenaldo was done playing defensively; it was time to go on the offense. With that in mind, he charged into battle with his Hero Shot, eliminating his enemies before they could do the same to him. After a fast-paced fight, the room was riddled with yellow puddles.
As the agent took a minute to rest, he heard a noise coming from the crane above him. He looked up and gasped with shock; he had missed an Octotrooper! The octopus laughed as it pressed a red button on a yellow stand, and the whistle of steam could be heard nearby. Roenaldo watched as one of the large, completed creations at the end of the production track started to move. Its LED eyes turned a dangerous red as it rolled towards the agent with long, metal legs attached to small wheels. A red sensor beam fixed onto the squid's chest before the machine made a loud, terrifying beeping sound. Purple ink then poured out of the machine's cylindrical head onto the floor, causing Agent 1 to yell, "Agent 3, RUN!" Roenaldo was already on the move, scrambling past the control centers and blueprints in an attempt to get away from the horrifying machine. Seeing a route to the right of him, Roenaldo bolted in that direction, traversing down a long hallway. He looked behind him only to see that the mechanical monster was still barrelling after him. To make matters worse, the floor was ink-proof, so he had to rely on his comparatively bad running skills. Still, the immense amount of adrenaline in Roenaldo's blood gave him the energy to keep moving. Eventually, after a major amount of exertion and turning corners, Roenaldo found an alcove to hide in. As he stood there sweating and panting, Agent 2 said, "I knew that those parts looked familiar! Agent 3, that thing that was chasing you is called a Flooder. It was good thing that you managed to escape; you would've been one-shot otherwise." As Roenaldo heard this, Agent 1 said, "Wow, sounds scary. But I have some good news! I picked up an electrical signal around this area; it must be a Zapfish! All you've gotta do is find your way there!" Agent 2 added, "Yeah, but you better be careful. I bet that Flooder is still roaming around." Roenaldo wiped his forehead before gripping his gun and stepping forward, feeling anxious yet determined.
Using his senses to their maximum capacity and keeping as low a profile as possible, Roenaldo managed to navigate the maze of hallways all while avoiding a quick death by Flooder. Soon, he located a Zapfish sitting in what looked to be a power outsourcer. The agent wasted no time in retrieving the fish, preferring to take the resulting shock over whatever getting splatted by a Flooder felt like. "Okay," said Agent 1, "We're almost done here! You just need to find a way to get out of that factory so we can pick you up." Roenaldo nodded and exited the power room only to hear the dreadful sound of wheels rolling. "Oh no," he said as he looked towards the Flooder, "Not again!" He was once again forced to run, dashing past all of the rooms and corridors as impending doom follower his every step. As he was doing that, the Zapfish kept angrily zapping the squid, feeling disturbed at being handled so roughly. Fortunately, this worked to keep Roenaldo alert, and he was able to run to the exit door as a result. Once he got there, he slammed the door behind him and waited for the carrier drone to arrive.
