The two kept staring at each other; unblinking. After a long while, Velma broke the tense silence.

"When shall the time come?"

Evgenikós took in a deep breath and walked away from Velma. "The gods know best. I shall advise you not to rush your destiny. It takes baby steps to run."

Velma turned round and followed Evgenikós into her bedroom. "What do you mean by that? How does a mirror have to do with my destiny?"

"I cannot let you leave until I have contained my powers," Evgenikós hissed. "Do you understand?"

"So the mirror is my key to freedom?" Velma asked.

"I never said it was," came the reply. "Stop hounding me, I have just come back from a long day of work," Evgenikós said in a frustrated voice. She took off her nurse coat and dumped it on the bed, sinking beside it. Then she placed her palm over her forehead.

"Do witches fall sick?" Velma asked.
