This was a huge underground space beneath the base of the Glittering Woodlands, the nest of the Yukibucha Zerg.
Lin had once bombed this place, but now it had been refurbished into an underground cave suitable for a base. The surrounding walls were still made of crystals. In order to commemorate the Yukibucha Zerg, Lin had built several pure crystal statues in the center of this place. Each statue represented a different form of the Yukibucha Zerg. She did not build any statues for the Crystal Lizards, as there were still many of them in the Twisted Woodlands.
But now, Lin was building something even more special.
Hundreds of troops were gathered here. Most of them were a special type of troop called the 'Shell Sprayer'. They could secrete a variety of crustaceous substances from their bodies and eject them through their mouths. They were crawling on the body of a huge troop, completing the final project.
This troop was much more difficult to complete than the Bechymos. After all, the Bechymos did not actually have a shell, only a thick skin. However, this troop required a perfect shell, which required the help of other troop types. Lin had also dug a very long cave to put it in.
But when it was completed, Lin thought it was all worth it …? That was not necessarily the case. She had not tested it before, and because there were many resources now, Lin wanted to build it. In fact, it was quite troublesome to build it. If it was an emergency, it was unlikely to build such a troop type that consumed a lot of resources and time.
It had a length of seventy-three meters and a diameter of more than six meters. Its entire body was covered in an armour made of highly durable shell-like material mixed with spider silk. After Bechymos, Linn had once again created a gigantic soldier.
She originally wanted to design it to be more than a hundred meters long, but Lin found it meaningless to be too long. It was now about the same weight as the Purgatory Worms. But its body was almost the same diameter. It was not like the Purgatory Worms with a big head and a thin tail.
This type of worm troop was mainly used for underground exploration. Its head was a huge 'drill' that could be used to drill through solid rocks. This' drill 'could also be opened up. The inside of the' drill 'was covered with barb-like serrated teeth that could swallow rocks into its body and crush them or dissolve them. This type of troop was purely used for underground exploration, but it could also be used for war.
Beside him were three others that were more than thirty meters long. They were smaller worm-type troops with a diameter of one meter. They surrounded the giant worm and drilled into the ground together. They could provide a lot of help, such as spraying liquid, providing energy, repairing the shell, and so on. Usually, they could embed themselves into the grooves of the armor on the side of the giant worm's body. They would not hinder the worm's movement and were a very convenient helper.
Unlike Bechymos, the giant worms did not spit out dissolving fluid. The giant worm could not create a small army because it did not have the relevant organs in its body. Its entire body was made up of a large amount of muscles, including some new muscle cells that were as tough as spider silk. Under the drive of this incomparably huge force, even the most solid rock layer could be drilled open.
… Although this was only a guess because no tests had been conducted yet, Lin felt that there was nothing wrong with it.
What was its name …? Lin couldn't think of an interesting name for the time being. She wanted to think of a name like Bechymos or Leviathan, but she couldn't find anything similar. She decided to name it 'Pathfinder' for now.
After applying the last bit of the crustaceous substance, Lin had all the Spatulators withdraw. When they had walked to a relatively safe distance, Lin tried to move the Pathfinder's body.
Rumble …
The Pathfinder only moved its body slightly, but the entire crystal cave trembled. Lin felt that there was nothing wrong with the allocation of muscles. Sometimes when the body was too heavy, the muscle strength was not enough, resulting in the inability to move or fatigue easily. However, the structures used were becoming more and more advanced, so there was basically no such problem.
Strong muscles also consumed a lot of energy, but as long as Lin's troops were not active, they would enter a dormant state and would not consume much energy.
It was more difficult for the Pathfinder to move on land. Generally, it could only be described as moving slowly, or rolling around like a headworm … But once it entered the ground …
Lin had the Pathfinder raise its head and slam it into the crystal ground. With a loud bang, countless crystal fragments scattered all over the sky, and a huge crater was formed in the ground. Then, the Pathfinder inserted its head into the crater, and its whole body began to rotate!
With the spiral patterns on its head, the Pathfinder easily drilled through the crystal ground, and its 73-meter-long body began to rotate. The moment its huge body rotated, the entire cave began to tremble, and the surrounding crystal walls began to crack. The entire cave now looked like the scene of an underground world collapsing.
This didn't seem to be appropriate.
Lin didn't like to cause too much damage and vibration to the surrounding environment when drilling. During normal times, it would cause a lot of unnecessary damage, and during times of war, it would not be able to achieve the effect of a sneak attack.
So, Lin changed the drilling speed of the Pathfinder, slowing down the shaking of its body. After some calculations, Lin used a more stable method to move forward.
Under Lin's changes, the tremors in the cave began to slow down, and the noise also became much softer. Even when the Pathfinder had drilled its entire body into the ground, there was not much damage to the surroundings.
Then, let's do more tests!
The Pathfinder then began to move forward. Through the continuous rotation of its body, the soil and rock layers were crushed by the huge drill. The Pathfinder then changed direction underground and rushed towards the crystal cave again.
With a loud bang, the Pathfinder's huge head suddenly burst out of the ground. The moment it appeared, its body was still rotating like a giant monster that had jumped out of the water. Then, the Pathfinder's rotating body touched the ground again, and under the splashing of crystal fragments, the Pathfinder quickly drilled back into the ground.
This' jumping out of the water 'drilling method did not cause any unnecessary damage to the ground except for leaving two large holes in the ground. Lin was quite satisfied with this.
If she wanted to move forward in a stable way, the speed would be much slower, but at least it would be faster than the airship of the brainworm.
Although the Pathfinder had eyeballs on its drill, and its head could also emit light, Lin could only see a large amount of mud and gravel. It was obviously moving underground. The Pathfinder could not determine its position, so Lin needed a Flyer to follow it in the air to confirm its position.
That was quite simple.
After slowly moving forward, the Pathfinder drilled away a large amount of soil, and Lin found that the area ahead was suddenly filled with rocks and sand. This was the position under the desert.
The brainworm was also in the air above this position. It had now fully recovered and was planning to continue flying towards the desert. Perhaps it really wanted to deal with the Incan swarm, so Lin would probably stop them when they were fighting fiercely.
