Grey, countless grey rocks filled Lin's vision.
Each of these rocks was at least a thousand times the size of Lin's cells, and there were so many of them that they covered the furthest distance that Lin could see.
However, Lin had a new term for this scene in her mind. This place filled with rocks was called the 'seabed', these rocks were called 'sand grains', and the scenery they covered was called 'beach'.
Beach? Sand grains? Sand?
Although this was the first time the term 'sand' appeared in Lin's mind, she immediately felt that 'sand' was referring to something very small.
But the sand in front of her was not small at all.
Lin's explorer swayed its body and swam towards the endless beach below.
The closer it got to the beach, the larger the sand grains became. None of them had the same shape, almost all of them were of different sizes, but even the smallest sand grain was at least twice the size of Lin's explorer.
The explorer landed on a relatively flat piece of sand, mainly to rest. At the same time, Lin also felt that this piece of sand seemed to be particularly … warm.
No, it was already beyond warm, almost beyond Lin's temperature tolerance range.
There was something here …
As the explorer swam, Lin decided to head deeper into the sand.
Because the sand grains were of different shapes and sizes, even when they were piled up together, there were still countless gaps and cracks between them, allowing Lin's explorer to easily move through these cracks.
As she swam between the large sand grains, Lin could feel that the temperature here was indeed very high, and the deeper she went, the higher the temperature became.
After circling around a few sand grains, Lin saw a large rock that was being pressed down by a large amount of sand grains. This rock was much larger than the sand grains around it, so Lin classified it as a rock and not sand.
This rock was black in color, and there were many holes on its surface, from which a transparent spherical object was flowing out.
What is that?
Lin tried to approach the rock, but the high temperature it was emitting prevented the explorer from getting any closer.
All of a sudden, more and more transparent spherical objects emerged from the holes on the rock, causing the entire rock to tremble.
What's going on?
Lin noticed that not only the rock, but even the sand grains around it were also trembling.
As the tremors grew more and more intense, a large piece of sand suddenly slid down from above the explorer. Lin hurriedly swam away to avoid it.
However, as this huge piece of sand fell, the surrounding piles of sand began to collapse and disintegrate. Countless sand and stones rolled down one after another.
Lin's explorer relied on its small size to avoid the collapsing sand particles while swimming upwards. The water here was getting hotter and hotter, so staying here would definitely be dangerous.
Dodging several pieces of falling sand, Lin saw the light of the exit. It was not far away, only a hundred cells away!
However, at this moment, the surrounding sand grains shook violently once more. Two grains of sand rolled over at the same time, sandwiching the Explorer's body between them. No matter how hard Lin tried, she could not break free.
But Erin still had another trick up her sleeve. The Explorer's round head suddenly began to swell. After it had expanded to a certain extent, it exploded like an exploding ball. The resulting water flow sent the Observer and a few fat cells out of the collapsing sand.
In the next moment, the explorer whose head exploded was buried under countless collapsing grains of sand.
How dangerous …
Lin's observer swam to a higher point to observe the entire beach. It noticed that the sand seemed to be constantly trembling, then some of the sand suddenly caved in to form quicksand pits.
Suddenly, a red substance gushed out from one of the pits. Lin instantly felt the surrounding temperature rise several times over. A fat cell that was relatively close to it was instantly killed by the heated water.
Lin's observer and the remaining fat cells swam higher, so they were not injured.
Lin carefully observed the red substance. It appeared to be very sticky and hot. It was constantly spraying out from the sand pit and spreading across the sand, gradually dyeing the entire beach a scalding red.
Lava.
A new term appeared in Lin's mind for this sticky red substance.
Regardless of what it was, it was something that emitted extreme heat, so it shouldn't be approached.
With that in mind, Lin swam upwards, away from this terrifying substance known as lava.
As Lin swam upwards, she noticed that the large area of ice crystals that originally covered the surface had disappeared. The water temperature was now much higher than before, so it wasn't strange for the ice crystals to disappear.
However, Lin still couldn't find the reason why the cells didn't appear.
No matter how terrifying the lava was, there shouldn't be any cells that would purposely dive into it.
Could it be, this lava could erupt very high? That would cause the water temperature to rise sharply, eventually killing off all the cells.
But from what Lin could see, this lava couldn't erupt very high, and it would fall back down after erupting for a while.
Perhaps I should go up and take a look?
With that in mind, Lin swam towards the light above.
Lin still remembered when she first approached the very top of the water, the light there was extremely blinding and dangerous. The light called ultraviolet light was capable of instantly killing off her cells.
Perhaps it was caused by ultraviolet light?
While thinking and swimming, Lin abruptly stopped.
Around Lin's observer, a large number of cells had suddenly appeared.
These cells were of different types, all of them hovered around Lin's cells. They were probably brought here by the current to suddenly appear in Lin's field of vision. They could be found all over this body of water, in terms of numbers, there should be at least ten million … no, over a hundred million of them.
Why did so many cells suddenly appear here?
No … it was very strange.
It was now that Lin noticed that these cells were completely motionless, as if … they were all dead.
These … were all corpses.
Lin's observer swam closer to one of the corpses to take a closer look. This cell corpse didn't have anything inside, but its nucleus seemed to have been destroyed by something and was twisted into a mess, while its outer membrane was completely intact. This shouldn't be caused by the virus.
Lin then looked at the other cell corpses and found that they all died in the same way, most likely caused by the same cause. But what could it be?
Lin didn't know.
Lin felt very uncomfortable, this was the first time she had seen such a large number of deaths. Among these floating cell corpses, there was even a large slime floating among them.
Lin swam closer to take a closer look, this slime was also dead, without any signs of life.
This slime was the largest creature Lin had ever seen besides herself, but it didn't seem to be able to escape this large number of deaths.
What could have caused this? The water temperature here was normal … Lin didn't think it was caused by the temperature.
While she was puzzled, Lin suddenly noticed that her surroundings seemed to have darkened, but it was different from the feeling of night, as if the light was being covered by something.
Only some sort of gigantic creature would have this kind of effect, Lin thought as she looked up.
A large expanse of green appeared in Lin's field of vision.
What was that?
Green, to be precise, it was a large group of green cells. Unlike the corpses around them, they appeared to be very lively as they swam freely in the water. There were so many of them that the entire body of water in Lin's field of vision had turned dark.
