Lu Yunxi took the phone and walked over to the window, leaving Lin Xi to wonder about their conversation. She couldn't hear what he was saying, only watching his brows furrow and then relax as they spoke.
After ending the call, Lu Yunxi walked back to Lin Xi.
Lin Xi looked at him somewhat sheepishly. "I answered the wrong call. Did Miss Fang misunderstand something?"
"I've already explained," he replied.
After a brief pause, he looked at Lin Xi and said, "We are husband and wife, sleeping in the same bed and waking up together is perfectly normal."
Lin Xi nodded in agreement.
Just as she was about to get up, Lu Yunxi suddenly leaned close to her face. "What's wrong with your face?"
Lin Xi quickly ran to the mirror and, as expected, found many red pimples on her face, legs, arms, and almost all over her body.
She knew it was the result of an allergic reaction to the eggs she had eaten yesterday.
"It's a bit of an allergy. I've taken some medicine, and it should clear up in a few days," Lin Xi explained.
"Are you sure it's not serious?" Lu Yunxi asked.
"Yes, don't worry. It won't affect us meeting Grandpa."
"Wait for a moment. I'll finish my makeup and change my clothes, and then we can go see my grandfather about the divorce."
She knew that he couldn't wait for her to initiate the divorce. Since there was no room for negotiation anymore, she wouldn't play the role of a pitiful woman begging for his sympathy. She couldn't do that, not with her self-respect.
"No need to go to my grandfather's place. Let's go to the hospital to have your face checked," Lu Yunxi said.
Lin Xi was surprised. "Has my grandfather agreed?"
Lu Yunxi shook his head.
Then he explained, "I was just about to tell you that my grandfather's health isn't very good. He has moved up his eightieth birthday celebration, and it will be held in a week."
"My grandfather has always cherished you, and if we were to file for divorce now, he wouldn't be able to enjoy his birthday. Let's wait until after the celebration."
"Okay," Lin Xi nodded. "My grandfather is the one in the entire Lu family who cares for me the most and treats me the best. I also hope he can enjoy his eightieth birthday happily."
"From the way you said that, it sounds like you're accusing me of not treating you well," Lu Yunxi teased.
Lin Xi smiled. After her mother passed away, it was her grandfather who brought her back to the Lu family, giving her a warm and happy home and supporting her education. Without her grandfather, she couldn't imagine how she would have lived these past few years.
"Don't worry, as soon as my grandfather's birthday celebration is over, I'll initiate the divorce. It won't delay your plans."
"Are you in such a hurry to divorce, even more than I am?" Lu Yunxi asked with a hint of sarcasm.
"Why? Are you in such a hurry to meet your old lover?"
Lu Yunxi rubbed his temples, feeling inexplicably irritated.
After breakfast, Lin Xi couldn't resist Lu Yunxi's insistence and accompanied him to the hospital.
In the doctor's office, Lin Xi sat on a chair, with Lu Yunxi standing next to her.
She felt a bit nervous, as she hadn't expected Lu Yunxi to come with her to the hospital.
"Do you know what caused your allergy?"
"Yes," Lin Xi replied.
"Even though you knew, you still ate so much, causing such a severe reaction. You're suffering because of your own actions. Have you taken any medication?" the doctor inquired.
Lin Xi shook her head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "No."
"I'll prescribe some medication for you. Try taking it at home, and if it doesn't work, come to the hospital for an injection immediately."
With her hand on her lower abdomen, Lin Xi hesitated. She was concerned that these oral medications might have an impact on her baby.
However, with Lu Yunxi standing by her side, she didn't dare to ask. Just when she was extremely anxious, Lu Yunxi's phone rang, and he went outside to answer it.
Lin Xi breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the doctor. "Doctor, I'm pregnant. Is it safe for me to take these medications?"
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? I'll change the prescription to topical ointment. You shouldn't take oral medication in your condition," the doctor replied.
"Thank you, doctor. I appreciate it."
After leaving the doctor's office, Lu Yunxi's expression changed.
He was no longer as gentle and had turned extremely cold.
Enduring it all the way, when they reached the pharmacy window, he couldn't hold back any longer. "You've become quite skilled at lying, haven't you?"
Lin Xi knew he was referring to her deceiving him about taking medication.
She quickly lowered her head, feeling embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."
"But you did it intentionally."
Lin Xi: ...

She quickly lowered her head, feeling embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

Lin Xi: ...
"Your ability to misinterpret things is impressive too," she remarked.
"I was thinking that since we're about to divorce, we'll each go our separate ways, and there's no need to trouble you anymore. Over these past two years, I've already caused you enough trouble," she explained.
"So, you know you've been a troublemaker?" Lu Yunxi retorted, a hint of irritation in his voice.
Lin Xi blushed, feeling a pang in her heart. See, he did indeed consider her a burden and a source of trouble.
But in the next moment, Lu Yunxi's tone changed. "We've been through a lot in these two years. What's one more thing to care about?"
After receiving the medication, Lu Yunxi checked the instructions and dosage. Suddenly, he spoke up, "I remember the doctor said it was an oral medication. How did it become topical ointment?"
Lin Xi:
Being overly attentive and eagle-eyed wasn't always a good thing.
"Topical ointment is fine!" Lin Xi replied.
"You have a severe allergy, and topical ointment takes too long. Oral medication is more effective. Besides, it's almost my grandfather's eightieth birthday celebration. If those red pimples on your body haven't disappeared by then, he might think I've been mistreating you," Lu Yunxi insisted.
"I'll explain it to my grandfather, and besides, it won't take that long to get better," Lin Xi earnestly assured him.
But Lu Yunxi remained adamant. "No, I'll have it changed back to oral medication. I don't want you to come back for injections if it doesn't work."
With that, he headed back to the doctor's office to have the prescription altered.
Lin Xi held her head, hastily calling out to him, "Yunxi, wait! I asked the doctor to change it to topical ointment. My stomach hasn't been feeling well these past few days, and oral medication might not be suitable for those with stomach discomfort."
"Topical ointment is slower, but it's safe, right?" She finally convinced Lu Yunxi with this reason, and he stopped in his tracks.
Inside the car, Lin Xi applied the ointment to her face, legs, and arms. However, she couldn't reach the back of her neck. Just when she was in a quandary, Lu Yunxi took the initiative to speak, "Are you sure you don't want my help?"
He always seemed to know everything and plan things meticulously.
"Well then, here you go!" Lin Xi handed him the medication.
Lu Yunxi furrowed his brow suddenly, "With this attitude, you won't even ask me?"
Lin Xi bit her lip and decided to go all in.
Blinking her seductive eyes, she used the sweetest, most charming voice she could muster, "Darling, pretty please, I can't reach it myself. Could you help me with that?"
