Chapter 86 - Chapter 88: Lila's Infiltration

Lila crouched in the dimly lit changing room, surrounded by racks of eccentric outfits she had just modeled. She knew something was off about this modeling gig, and her curiosity had gotten the better of her. With a deep breath, she harnessed her unique power, jumped, and found herself in the ventilation system above.

Crawling stealthily through the narrow ducts, she listened intently to the muffled conversations happening below. The voices of the staff members echoed, discussing matters that seemed far from the world of fashion. She was determined to uncover the truth behind this bizarre modeling agency.

As Lila ventured deeper into the labyrinthine network of vents, she began to hear hushed tones emanating from a nearby vent shaft. She inched closer, careful not to make a sound.

Inside the staff-only secure room, two men in suits were engaged in a conversation that sent shivers down Lila's spine. She strained her ears to catch every word.

Man 1: "We need to launder the money more discreetly. The authorities are starting to catch on."

Man 2: "I agree. The fashion shoots provide the perfect cover, but we need to funnel the funds through different channels. It's getting riskier by the day."

Man 1: "Our primary concern is keeping the higher-ups satisfied. They don't tolerate mistakes."

Lila's heart raced as she listened to their conversation. It was becoming evident that this modeling agency was a front for illegal activities. Money laundering was not something she had anticipated when she accepted the modeling job.

As the conversation continued, one of the men excused himself and left the room. Lila seized the opportunity, waiting until only one man remained. With her heart pounding, she carefully maneuvered her way out of the vent and landed gracefully on the floor behind him.

Before he could react, Lila swiftly grabbed him, lifting him onto her shoulder. Her daggers remained poised, a clear warning of the danger he was in.

Lila: "Tell me where I can find the leader of this operation."

The man swallowed hard, his face pale with fear. He realized he was at Lila's mercy.

Man: "Okay, okay. I'll tell you, just don't hurt me. He's located at an old warehouse on the outskirts of town. It's where they coordinate everything."

Lila knew she couldn't linger here for long. She nodded at the man, her grip on him firm enough to make her intentions clear but not painful.

Lila: "Good choice. Now, stay quiet and keep your mouth shut. If you breathe a word of this to anyone, you'll regret it."

With the man slung over her shoulder, Lila made her way back into the vents, leaving the man shaken and bewildered. She had a lead now, and she was determined to get to the bottom of the sinister operations hidden beneath the guise of high fashion.
