Chapter 118 - Battalion Commander Sabre’s Valiance

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Grand Marshal Geraint! What a nice match don't you think?!"

This time, it was Helena who happily walked closer to Geraint and gave him a pat on the back.

Geraint gnashed his teeth in anger, he wasn't prepared for this at all because he thought that it would only be a matter of time before his general, Marcus, wins.

Helena wasn't about to let him off easy this time though, she was annoyed to death by Geraint during the mock wars so she's out for revenge!

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I admit that your General Marcus was strong…He might've won if he was against a different opponent…Unfortunately for him, he just had to fight against our Zander! Truly unfortunate!"

"K-Kuhhhh…You better celebrate now! Once we win, I'll make you cry!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Don't be so angry Grand Marshal Geraint, you still have more chances! Don't lose hope!"

Helena mocked as she slowly returned to her camp. Eager to have his revenge, Grand Marshal Geraint stopped paying attention to Helena and immediately called his next general.

"Gavin, you're up"

The stone-faced general named Gavin slowly walked towards the middle of the duelling grounds. His face was so serious that it seemed like no joke could ever make him laugh.

On the other hand, Helena sent Sabre to fight for Resonance City.

After a few minutes of preparation, the two combatants faced each other in the middle of the duelling grounds, ready to fight.

Helena looked at Geraint and her eyes narrowed into slits after seeing Geraint's overflowing confidence.

She couldn't help but speculate about the strength of this stone-faced general.

The two combatants started circling each other while slowly closing in and of course, Sabre, with his signature aggressive style, charged first.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

Sabre wasn't someone who would probe his opponent. Instead, he would just attack until he manages to read the opponent's moves or until a hole appears in the opponent's defences.

After three clashes, Sabre wasn't able to get any sort of advantage because all of his blows were perfectly blocked by the opponent.

Still, he didn't give up and continued attacking.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

After more than fifty clashes, nothing was happening. Stone-faced Gavin didn't let Sabre get any advantage and his face was as serious as ever.

Helena smiled after seeing the current developments.

"You've grown…Sabre…"

If it was the old Sabre, then he would be extremely annoyed right now after not getting any sort of advantage.

However, currently, although he was panting a bit, his face was calm with no trace of impatience. After losing to Blanc, not only did he train his mental fortitude, but he also improved his patience.

Helena felt proud as she watched Sabre continuously attack while patiently looking for openings. Finally, after around forty more clashes, he found a small opening.

"Chance!"

Sabre didn't let the chance go to waste and immediately kicked Gavin's right shoulder.

Gavin staggered after getting kicked cleanly in the shoulder and because of this, he wasn't able to block Sabre's horizontal slash.

"Mmmphh…"

He couldn't help but let out a slight groan after being hit cleanly on the body. Sabre smiled widely after hearing Gavin's groan.

"Hahahaha, your face finally moved eh? Stoney-face?"

Sabre taunted after getting a reaction out of General Gavin's face. However, Gavin simply ignored Sabre's taunts.

He then charged toward Sabre and attacked with his own set of attack combinations.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

"Woah, Woah! Mr. Stone-face! I thought you were only gonna defend. Why are you attacking now?!"

Sabre taunted while defending against Gavin's attacks.

After seeing the current developments, the Resonance City crowd cheered.

Sabre was always a loudmouth during sparring sessions so seeing him do it against someone from a different army means that he's already enjoying the duel.

In contrast, Gavin, who was usually stone-faced, seems to have lost his cool. Although he wasn't showing it in his face, everyone can see from his actions that he was incredibly annoyed by Sabre.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

"Yo, Mr. Stone face, your swings are getting clumsier, if you just let all your emotions out it will feel very good I promise!"

Sabre continued talking while fighting Gavin which slowly gave him more and more openings.

Geraint frowned while watching Gavin slowly lose.

This was the first time Gavin lost his cool in front of him and he was glad that he saw this side of Gavin now because if this was the battlefield, Gavin might actually lose his life.

Fortunately, this was only a sparring session and they still have time to fix their weaknesses.

After more than one hundred and fifty clashes, both sides were tired and none of Gavin's "stone-faced" persona was left.

He was currently gnashing his teeth in anger while Sabre was chuckling happily.

However, Sabre wasn't as skilled as Blanc when it came to reading an opponent's attack patterns so he was hit quite a few times by Gavin.

"That's it! I'm sick and tired of your bullshit!"

Gavin said as orange sword intent started to coat his blunted iron sword. Sabre's pupils constricted after realizing that Gavin was a Swordmaster.

At the same time, he was also a bit proud. Not only was he able to hold his own against a Swordmaster, but he even forced the Swordmaster to use his sword intent.

After fully coating his blunt sword with sword intent, Gavin immediately dashed towards Sabre to try and end the fight.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

"K-Kuhhh…"

Sabre started to get pushed back after Gavin used his sword intent. Fortunately, his mental fortitude had already improved.

He remembered the time when Blanc defeated Gar Grayleaf even though he was getting pushed back by Gar.

The fight was intense, Sabre didn't let Gavin simply overwhelm him as he mixed in some kicks and punches while blocking Gavin's attacks.

At this point, Gavin just wanted to end the fight as quickly as possible. He was expected to defeat an advanced swordsman since he was a Swordmaster.

Unfortunately for him, Sabre struggled fiercely, incredibly defiant in the face of a Swordmaster.

While fighting crazily, Sabre got an inspiration as he observed the sword intent up close. He was also nearing his limits so he had no choice but to try it now.

"Haaah…Haaaah…"

The two combatants circled each other while panting hard in exhaustion. However, Sabre was visibly more tired than Gavin

He decided to risk it all in an all-or-nothing attack. Sabre gripped his sword tight as he charged towards Gavin.

Of course, Gavin himself didn't back down since he knew that he was at an advantage when it came to frontal clashes.

"HAAAAAAHHH!!"

In the middle of his charge, an aura which seemed like sword intent started to coat Sabre's sword.

Geraint's eyes widened in shock while Helena unconsciously smiled.

"Oh? Is he gonna break through right now?!" Helena excitedly thought to herself

Weirdly though, the sword intent was just plain white and as their swords clashed, his white sword intent crumbled very easily.

Unfortunately, after the clash, Sabre's sword finally snapped and he was struck cleanly on his neck. He then fell face first on the ground, unconscious.

 "Enough! Gavin Wins!"
