Daron turned back to the boy he was treating as the tension in the room rose, the other students had faces filled with concern as they looked at the him.
"Dr. Bennet," Daron called as the head medic was rushing the man who had interrupted him out of the office.
"Yes?"
"I need you and one other medic to start healing him at the same time," Daron said.
The medics all looked at him as they heard what came out of his mouth.
Closing the office door, Dr. Bennet looked towards Daron who hadn't begun treating the boy again. "Why do you need us to do that, Daron?"
Daron rubbed in between his eyes. "I don't have enough Energy to continue using my Healing aspect during the process. But I'm not out of Energy. I've had my two other aspects sealed the entire time so they wouldn't interfere with the healing. However, now I can only try and use one of my other aspects to unblock the Energy Path inside his body. Which means, I'll need your help in case something goes wrong."
Dr. Bennet took a deep breath and then called out, "Turner, stand on one side of the boy."
"Yes, Dr. Bennet," she replied.
As Dr. Bennet and Maria stood on either side of the patient, Daron unlocked his Constitution aspect to use it during the procedure.
"I will be using my Constitution aspect for the remaining part of the procedure. Be prepared, I have no idea if this will hurt," Daron said, to the medics and the boy.
"We'll be here healing him while you perform the procedure. Just make sure it goes smoothly," Dr. Bennet said.
Daron nodded as he once again placed his hand on the boy's forehead. "Are you ready?"
The boy nodded as Daron started channeling his Constitution aspect, his Energy soon flowing into the boy's Energy Path.
As soon as it the Constitution aspect Energy reached a blockage, the boy suddenly started moving as a scream started to release from his throat.
"Daniel! Hold him down!" Dr. Bennet called out to another medic as he and Maria focused on using their own abilities to heal the boy.
Daniel was quick as he was able to get to and hold him down before Daron lost hold of his Energy.
Daron gritted his teeth as he continued to channel his Constitution aspect into the boy's Energy Path, pushing through the resistance of the blockage. It was difficult listening to the screams, knowing he was the one causing them; but he knew it was necessary. Noctus had caused severe damage to the boy's Energy Path, enough to endanger the boy's life, if he was to believe his system.
Dr. Bennet and Maria remained steady as they healed him, their faces etched with resolve as they worked tirelessly to mitigate the pain and support the boy's weakened Energy Path. Their healing Energy a slight warmth in the storm of suffering.
Minutes felt like eternities, and Daron's inner turmoil mirrored the boy's cries. His teeth remained clenched, his breaths shallow and rapid, as he persisted in the arduous task.
If the other student's Energy Path's were like a corn maze, where his Energy could pass through easily and break the blockages, the Energy Path of the boy was like a complete labyrinth, and everywhere there were stone walls where there shouldn't have been that he had to truly focus to break through.
But if the blockages were stone walls, at the very least his Constitution aspect was a steel drill running at full power. Eventually, the wall will break.
After an excruciatingly long twelve minutes, Daron felt his Constitution aspect Energy start to flow more freely and the boy started to calm down as well. Retracting, his Energy from the boy, Daron got a notification from his system and he took a sigh of relief.
"Continue to heal him for a bit longer," Daron said, taking a step away.
"Of course. We can't tell you how thankful we are that you've done this," Dr. Bennet said.
Daron thought for a moment before starting to talk. "There's a way, I think. Can I talk to you in private, Dr. Bennet? You can leave Daniel and Maria to heal him, right?"
Dr. Bennet raised an eyebrow. "I suppose."
Walking over to another room inside the medic's office, Daron brought up something to Dr. Bennet.
"Dr. Bennet, what do you think would have happened to that boy if I wasn't here?" Daron asked.
"He most likely would've been crippled for life, without being able to use a Physique or an Ability Domain."
"I'm afraid you're wrong," Daron said.
"What do you mean?"
"You know I have a special power, yes?"
"Yes."
"I believe I told you it was a system that helped me in the fight against Noctus. But that's not the full story. My system is called No Deaths Allowed. When I was interrupted healing him by that man, my system brought up a task in front of my view. It said prevent a possible death. Meaning, if I wasn't here, he would've died. It seems like the college can let go of all the fights and even students crippling other students, but what about a student dying?"
Dr. Bennet was silent for a moment. "The college wouldn't be able to let something like that go. They would also be under fire for a student dying under their watch. Anything else goes, except death. That is the basis of the top five colleges in Ritan. But why tell me this?"
"I want you to give me your signature that you confirm that without my intervention, that student would have died. You're already going to make me a medic anyways," Daron said.
"But why do you need that, Daron?" Dr. Bennet asked.
Daron looked at his system interface.
[Prevent a possible death: +10 Experience]
[Extra Experience will not be carried over]
[System has become Level 2]
[Lowest-Level Healing Technique has been created]
[Quest Completed]
"That man said Noctus was in the gym, correct? There's something I'd like to try."
Dr. Bennet stared at Daron for a moment before closing his eyes. "You have my permission."
