Chapter 19 - Chapter 18 - Daron Versus Rylen

Rylen's fist impacted upon Daron's crossed arms, but the power wasn't enough to break either arm. The arm that was directly impacted at most had a small fracture. But Daron knew Rylen wasn't using his full power to attack yet. Due to Daron's performance in the last round, Rylen wanted to gauge how much power he needed to use to win.

Daron pushed his arms forward, causing Rylen to take a step back, but he was unable to attack before another attack had come towards him. He blocked with his arms again, feeling more power behind the punch than before, causing the bone to break. It hadn't yet pierced through the skin, but with enough punches at that power, it would happen with one or two more hits.

Unlike Daron's previous fight, he could tolerate the pain that Rylen's injuries were causing. They hurt, but Julian's attacks were much worse, pain wise.

Rylen went in to attack again, and Daron had moved his arms so the attack would hit his chest. He had activated the combination Life-Saving Energy Focus technique and didn't worry about the current power behind Rylen's punches hurting him. However, with only one arm available to attack, he was limited in his movement. Daron was still going to rely on his legs to attack, but he wanted to keep his arms as undamaged as possible in this fight so he would be in the best position to fight.

Feeling the attack hit Daron's chest, Rylen felt that it didn't do much. He would need to use more power. Covering his arm in his ability domain's energy, he shot it at Daron's chest again. He'd expected Daron to bring his arm up to defend like he had done against Julian, but he did no such thing. Instead, he took the punch head on.

Daron felt the punch impact his chest, and he felt fractures on the bones, but his healing power went to work as soon as the punch landed. With the activation of the Life-Saving Energy Focus technique, the damage was repaired in a few seconds. Daron was quite shocked at the speed that he healed himself, but then remembered he had gained ten stat points into it for keeping eighty percent of its healing ability. This gave Daron a little more confidence that he might be able to win, but he still knew Rylen wasn't yet using his full power.

A series of punches was then thrown out towards Daron's chest, and he stood there and took it. He wouldn't be able to dodge even if he tried, and if he tried countering, Rylen could easily dodge. Just like Daron had said to Sarah and Mr. Gail, this would be a battle of endurance between them. That is, if he wasn't able to find an opening and use it.

But given Daron's lack of combat experience, even if there was an opening, it's unlikely he would know there was.

The punches continued to fracture Daron's chest, which would then heal at an astonishing speed. Seeing that his attacks were useless at their current power, Rylen had taken a few steps back. Planting his leg into the arena floor, he shot towards Daron at an insane speed, and as he got close, he powered his arm to shoot towards Daron. This would create his most powerful attack against Daron he had used yet. But he had used a more powerful attack against Sarah. Thinking about it, Daron now thought it was lucky that Sarah even survived. Then again, he doubted Rylen would want to lose the tournament. If Rylen wanted to kill Sarah, he could've.

The attack landed once more on Daron's chest, and Daron was pushed back for the first time in the fight as the bones in his chest broke. Deciding it was time to use his Aspect Infusion skill, he infused his healing power into his body. Though he didn't know the percentage of how much it increased his healing power, from what he felt when learning, it should be enough to fix his chest in a few seconds again.

Rylen thought he had gained the upper hand as he felt the bones break in Daron's chest. But he watched as Daron healed again in front of him. This caused Rylen's anger to flare again as he thought he saw the extent to Daron's healing power before, but now he found it was even better. Rylen wanted to punch Daron's face in, but the thought of being disqualified once again entered into his mind. No matter what, he couldn't be disqualified.

Wasting no time, Rylen went to the other side of the arena. Seeing this, Daron prepared himself. He switched his Aspect Infusion skill to strength, but instead of having it go through his entire body, he had it infuse into just his arm and shoulder area. He thought this was the only way to be able to meet the power of the move Rylen used against Sarah. The move Rylen was about to use again.

Knowing how fast he would move, Daron started punching forward before Rylen even darted towards him. The two punches moved towards each other, and Rylen thought it was foolish for Daron to fight his punch head on. However, as the two fists collided, Rylen was flung to the edge of the arena, while Daron was pushed around a meter backward.

With a fractured arm, Rylen stood up and looked at Daron with pure seething hatred in his eyes. Sprinting forward again, Rylen attacked Daron once more, but he had used too much energy through his two fights, and the one attack that might've damaged Daron had already been used.

Meanwhile, Daron stood, also with a fractured arm, and ready to defend against the oncoming attack. This time, however, he would attack.

Rylen used his operational arm to throw a punch with all of his power left behind it towards Daron's chest again. But before it had made contact, a kick had made its way towards Rylen's side. Hitting his already fractured arm, Rylen screamed as he was flung to the arena's edge again, where he fell and lay still. The pain causing him to pass out.

A few moments of silence transpired before the referee called the winner.

"The winner of the competition is Daron Finley!"
