Chapter 28 - 5•25 ; God-Like

The crowd in the Hall stood rooted to their seats, dumbfounded, unable to keep up with the sudden turn off events.

First, the mad dog from House Lowen went crazy and mocked a godly being. And in the blink of an eye, both the mad dog and his son were permanently erased from this world.

Everyone subconsciously gazed at the orifice in the upper right corner of the triangular augmented ceiling, their hearts thumping wildly and gulping down their throats

(As expected of the lunar goddess. She was even able to put a hole through one of the toughest materials in existence. If it were anyone else, they would have suffered a server penalty from the 'nexus system'. She truly deserves her position as the thirteenth strongest in the {God-Like Ranking}.) In the deathly stillness, old man Cavve muttered in resignation. Yet, because of the pin-drop silence, everyone in the hall clearly heard him.

(What! She is among the only {13 God-Like Entities} in the entire boundless cosmos?) Patriarch Moretti jolted from his seat, his body trembling. Whether it's from fear or excitement is unknown, though.

Patriarch Moretti looked at his shaking hands and clenched them firmly. He muttered, (I can't believe it. In my whole freaking life, I never thought I would come across one of those unrivaled existences who stood beyond the summit - the God-Like.)

(Why didn't I notice it earlier? If only I had known this before, I would have confronted that 'Mad Dog Thomas' before he could run wild, even having the guts to challenge her celestial one's author.~.) But before he could finish his lamentation, he heard a barely suppressed chuckle coming from not far away from his floating seat.

Immediately, he turned in that direction, wanting to curse the person who laughed. But before he could, the person's voice reached his ears.

(What a 'I have known this before'. Stupid bat, you're really stupidly conceited! To the point where your intelligence must have been dug by a donkey.) Sitting quite near Patriarch Moretti's seat, in the second row, Rias looked at him in mockery after hearing his lamentation.

(What do you mean?) Patriarch Moretti asked doubtfully, not understanding her words.

(Stupid bat, can't you realize her heavenly title? The word 'Goddess' in her title isn't just for show, you know. You should be aware that the word 'God' is forbidden and can't be used casually, right?)

(What the heck are you spou...! Ah! Now that you mention it, how could I have forgotten something so important?) Patriarch Moretti got annoyed at her meddlesomeness and instinctively thought of refuting her. But suddenly, it clicked in his mind.

(Because you are even more stupid than a donkey, how could you forget the primary knowledge given at your level? You should know how the {Divines}, who were formerly known as the 'God clan', were stripped of their title after the uni...) ❗❗❗ Just when Rias was about to finish her speech, a splitting headache assaulted her, rendering her unable to speak further.

(Oops, it seems I have said too much.) Rias rubbed her throbbing head while glancing around at the low-level users and the mortal children.

(Are you done? If so, then can I start venting my frustration.)

Even before Rias' voice could die down, a grey-cloaked figure materialized on top of the grand podium, folding her hands and patiently waiting for their conversation to conclud.

(Ye-s,) Rias replied, sweat trickling down her forehead. In her mind, she couldn't help but curse her meddlesome mouth.

Meanwhile, Patriarch Moretti bowed his body 180° in reverence and fear.

Sarah discarded their apologies and walked towards the silent Void.

Upon reaching in front of him, without uttering a word, she knelt down and hugged him tightly, as if his fragile body could crumble at any moment..

She murmured into Void's ear, her voice choked with emotion.

(I'm sorry, please forgive me.)

Void became perplexed her sudden apology, unsure of how to respond.

A single teardrop rolled down her cheek, landing on the corner of his mouth. Unconsciously, Void slid his tongue, tasting the bittersweet teardrop, as if trying to understand her sorrow.

Everyone observed in silence. They assumed that Sarah's sorrow and her apology to the black child stemmed from her guilt about giving birth to a sourceless child like him. After all, without a source, he could never awaken as an ability user, right?

But then again, they could somehow comprehend. Sarah is a 'God-Like' entity, and her chances of giving birth to an extremely talented child should have been a given. Yet, one of her children failed to develop a conception, causing him to never formulate a source.

Perhaps she spent her lifetime luck by giving birth to a never-before-seen talent like Sora, causing her second child to be out of luck.

💘💘💘💘💘💘

After what seemed like a long time yet also a brief period, Sarah rose to her feet, her face returning to the expressionless Sarah. She glanced at Sora, who arrived on top of the grand podium while she was embracing Void.

Then her chilling eyes gazed at the ether above the rainbow-crystal ball, where the Alphis was hovering.

She opened her mouth and spoke with an assertive tone, (Care to explain? Otherwise, you know what will happen, don't you?) ☪️☪️☪️☪️☪️☪️
