As night fell, Sophia thought of her promise to Alexander this morning. So she went to the kitchen and unwittingly prepared a sumptuous dinner. After setting up the table, she looked at it only to realize that tonight there seemed to be a feast.
Time quietly passed as Sophia kept track of the time. She patiently watched as the clock's hour hand slowly ran from six o'clock to eight o'clock. Now it was almost nine o'clock, but there was no sign of Alexander coming home yet.
"Mommy, when is Mr. Carter coming? I'm starving," Alexa complained, sitting on the sofa and rubbing her belly with her little hands. When she stared at the big meal on the table, her mouth watered, and she almost drooled.
"I think that bad guy doesn't want to come, so he stands us up."
Axel had always disliked Alexander. And now that Alexander was late, he disdained Alexander even more.
