Cora was filled with dread.
He wasn't stupid, was he?
This guy was thin and physically weak. How dare he come alone to save her?
Besides, Ace was still working in the Carter Group. Wasn't he now at odds with the big boss?
Alexander would certainly fire Ace if he found out.
"I told you to leave. Don't you understand me? Guys, your target is me. Don't involve the innocent ones here."
Cora mustered her courage and yelled at the door. All she wanted was to keep Ace out of trouble.
On the other side of the door, Ace put his hand helplessly on his forehead. He knew that Cora would not open the door so easily.
He had no choice.
"Cora, open the door. In fact, I was sent by Mr. Carter to pick you and the twins up."
Ace finally told the truth.
"What did you say? Alexander sent you here?"
Cora was so dumbfounded that she was unable to really process what she had just heard.
