As Max began to understand the situation, fear turned his stomach cold. His first instinct was to run away.
But Alexander wasn't going to give him that chance.
"Have a seat."
Max sat down uneasily.
Alexander sat as well. He got right to the point. "I want you to do me a favor, Mr. Anderson."
Max's body stiffened, and he hesitated for a moment before replying, "How can I help you, Mr. Carter?"
Sophia clenched her fists. She had a feeling that Alexander was about to bring up the Miller Group.
Alexander took a leisurely sip of coffee and placed his cup down. "It's not a big deal," he said slowly. "It's about some rumors that I've heard recently."
Max's throat tightened and cold sweat ran down his back.
"What rumors?" Max asked.
