"Traces of physical trauma consistent with a struggle and signs of sexual assault were evident in the examinations of the women," the doctor explained, his voice echoing slightly in the hospital hallway outside the wards.

He adjusted the clipboard under his arm and glanced at Sycamore, who stood with his hands clasped behind his back.

"We recommend delaying any visits for now. Many of the women are experiencing emotional distress and trauma, and some are... highly sensitive."

Sycamore shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "Is anyone in better health for some short ques—"

The doctor cut him off with a stern tone. "Their recovery might be stunted by early or intrusive questioning." His gaze was firm, trying to be polite despite the underlying contempt in his words. "It's crucial to approach them with sensitivity and allow them some time to adjust."
