Back in the present
"I can't wait to get out of this stupid body" Adriana grumbled under her breath as she still laid in bed with one hand gently rubbing her tummy even though the pain had subsided.
She still didn't know why she had to deal with living in another person's body and not to talk of the fact that the person she had exchanged bodies with was a pathetic weakling!!
She just had to figure out a way to get out of the useless body and she would do it no matter what, her stay in this body was long overdue. Adriana thought within herself as she continued lying on bed but it wasn't long after that she sprung up on her feet once she felt that she had regained her strength fully.
She left the room for the living room as she walked over to the liquor stand picking out one of the wines she had bought for herself and as she was pouring the content inside, into the glass cup she brought out, her memory momentarily shifted to the time she had fainted in school.
Did Chris really bring her all the way here? Adriana couldn't help but wonder the trouble he must have gone through to have brought her here as she knew he didn't go around with a car but a motorcycle.
Thinking about it, who on earth chooses riding a motorcycle when they had many cars available at their fingertips. Adriana couldn't help but think while taking a sip out of the wine she poured for herself.
She brought out her phone from her pocket as she reached out for her ear pods putting it on and while she searched for a song to play, her hand suddenly stopped midway from tapping on the song she had finally found.
How did Chris find out she was staying here? She was sure she did not give Mrs Taylor the address to her new house!!
Adriana pondered on the thought but only shrugged it off after a while of thinking and not being able to come up with a logical answer.
She tapped on the song she had planned to play and soon, she was seen dancing around the not so big living room while she had fun with the wine in her hand.
She occasionally poured herself a glass once the one she was drinking had finished. She wanted to forget about anything that was weighing in her mind at the moment and just have fun.
If there was anything Adriana hated, it was getting depressed over some shity stuff that could be fixed with just a glass of drink. To her, there was nothing that couldn't be fixed with music and drinking all at the same time.
Minutes passed and Adriana was still having her fun in the living room as she continued dancing with the loud music blasting in her ear but it was soon to stop as the sharp pain kicked in again.
Adriana fell on the floor due to the immense pain but instead of crying out, she only let out a little laugh as she continued drinking her wine.
She knew the drink was bad for her health but guess who didn't care? Her!! She didn't care!! She would do whatever she felt like doing and no weak stupid looking pathetic body could stop her.
Seeing that the glass in her hand had finished, Adriana tossed it away as she crawled over to the counter and instead of using a cup again, she rather took the bottle and drank from it.
She rested her back against the wall and while she used one hand to hold her hurting tummy, she held the bottle of wine with the other as she continued drinking till the contents in it finished and by now she was already drunk.
It wasn't just any ordinary wine she took but the one that contained a very high percent of alcohol in it. A slight grumple escaped her lips as she now laid on the cold marble floor with an aching head.
"Curse that bitch" Adriana gritted her teeth in frustration as she struggled to get up from the floor trying to find her way back inside her room so as to lay back on bed and get some sleep.
She tried as hard as possible to get up on her feet but her legs just weren't cooperating with her which only made her more frustrated than she was.
Her hands reached out for the counter walls near her as she tried using it for support to get up and just when she thought she had finally succeeded in getting up to her feet, she fell straight to the ground again but this time, she fell unconscious as she had fainted.
Even the air pods that was still in her ear wasn't enough to jerk her awake from the long sleep she had drifted into.
The air around her swept all over her face which was enough to dry off some of the sweats that had come to wet her forehead earlier as her body now laid on the cold floor unguarded and if one were to see her right now, they would consider her to be a weak and miserable person but Adriana wasn't any of that.
It was true that Adriana never lacked anything when she was growing up. Always fed with the purest and richest things life could offer and was never made to experience the hardship of life. She did whatever she wanted and never listened to anyone unless she wanted to. It was just who she was but what if all that changes? Was it guaranteed that she would be able to come out of the dilemma she was in now and the trauma slowly catches up to her and she slowly loses her optimistic behavior she had once built up for herself?!
Earlier in the past,
A twelve year old Adriana could be seen in the classroom alone drawing and sketching on her notebook but was soon interrupted by the sudden thud made by another student who was a girl as she made her way in into the enclosed space while the door she had slammed open closed back on it's own with another thud making Adriana flinch.
Her hazel eyes looked up at the girl with slight panic as she dug her fingernails into the palm of her hand wanting to get away from the girl who walked up to her with a smirk plastered on her face.
"Did you think you could get away with reporting me to the teacher smarty pants" the girl said with a slightly irritated tone as she went ahead to pull Adriana's hair who winced in pain unable to defend herself.
She felt weak but she knew she could do something but she was still someone battling with social anxiety. there was no way she could have raised her hand to fight back.
"You stupid bitch….next time, you will think twice before...." The girl wasn't done completing her words when Adriana's mom walked in on them with a surprised look on her face.
"What is going on here?" Rachel asked in slight shock as she stared at the two. One who was pulling her daughters hair and the second being her daughter who only sat there crying in pain.
The girl who noticed mrs Hawkins had walked in quickly retracted her hands and not waiting for Rachel to start scolding her, She was quick to run off leaving a stunned Rachel to look at Adriana who did not bother meeting her eyes as she kept them bent over the floor and this alone was enough to make Rachel aggravated.
"Come with me we are going to the principal's office now" Rachel said sternly, going to grab her daughter's hand wanting to drag her out of the room to the principal's office so the issue of her daughter being bullied by an eight year old would be addressed.
"Mum, just leave it. I already had a bad day as it is" Adriana said dryly as if she wasn't interested. She was beyond tired as it is.
"No! I refuse to just sit and watch...."
"I said No, why can't you just listen to me for once" Adriana said, jerking her hand off her mum's own as she ran out of the classroom.
She ran straight to her mum's car and it wasn't long before Rachel joined her. Neither of them spoke a word to each other till they got home.
Adriana got down from the car rather hurriedly as she just wanted to go inside her room and be all by herself where she could just listen to music and forget everything that ever happened through the day.
While on the other hand, Rachel watched her daughter closely and what she was seeing only brought a great amount of displeasure upon her. She followed closely behind her and once she saw Adriana hurriedly walking up the stairs to go to her room, she was quick to stop her.
"Atleast talk to me" Mrs Hawkins said, her lips setting into a thin line as she watched Adriana turn to look at her but she still wasn't able to decipher what went on in her daughter's head.
"There's nothing to talk about," Adriana said bluntly, still not meeting her mother's eyes. "You have to learn to stand up for yourself Adriana"
Adriana heard her mother say this and she could only scoff at her words. "Easy for you to say, you have never battled with social anxiety" Adriana only said and not waiting for her mum to say another word quickly rushed upstairs to her room.
Back in the present,
Adriana woke up after some hours only to find herself lying on the cold floor with a banging head to have her let out a slight whimper as she tried to stand up straight and unlike before that she couldn't even lift a leg, she was able to get up to her feet this time.
"F***" Adriana cursed under her breath as the banging on her head only increased.
Wanting to go back and lie down inside her room, she suddenly stopped when she heard her phone beep and that was when she saw it lying on the floor with some of the wine she had been drinking spilt on it.
It took a while before she could bend and reach out for her phone but once she finally did and saw who the message was from and her eyes narrowed.
'you don't have to come to work tomorrow'
