"What do you think?" Ben asked, his eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and anticipation.
Sam, always the more impulsive of the two, grinned and replied, "What's there to say? Let's start the trail already."
Ben couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, his thoughts drifting to the life they were leaving behind. "Don't you want to see your girlfriend again?" he inquired.
Sam shrugged nonchalantly. "We weren't that close, actually," he admitted.
Ben pondered for a moment before returning the question, "What about your university, Ben? Don't you want to go back to your studies?"
Sam's eyes twinkled with excitement as he looked around at their mysterious new surroundings. "Compared to this, it doesn't stand a chance," he said with a grin. Their decision made, they were ready to embark on their extraordinary adventure in the world of Revara.
As they stood on the precipice of this unknown world, Sam's insatiable curiosity led him to ask the system, "Does this world contain the magic and mysterious creatures I've read about and fantasized about?"
With a cryptic tone that hinted at untold wonders, the system replied, "Yes, it does, and it'll definitely exceed your expectations and put them to shame."
Sam, undeterred, continued his inquiries, "What if we die during the trial?" The system's answer was straightforward, " you shall face death eternally "
This left the brother hanging for a moment.
Determined and unafraid, Sam grinned and declared, "let's still do it anyway, not that we have an exciting life waiting for us back in earth. Also, I strongly believe we can do it since it's the two of us."
Ben agreed and was actually proud of his brother and embraced his adventurous side.
Ben, ever the rational thinker, had one more question, "What awaits us after the trial?"
The system's response held a mysterious edge, "I'm not at liberty to enclose that information, but the world that awaits you has wonders and, at the same time, comes with struggles and hardships." With their curiosity piqued and excitement building, they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead in the world of Revara.
With a smile, Ben couldn't help but admit, "I'm glad that you dragged me into this."
Both brothers, now resolved and eager to face the trials of this new world, agreed to proceed. The system provided them with a simple sword and a single-eyed lens with special features. Sam, fueled by his enthusiasm, swiftly grabbed the sword before Ben had a chance and brandished it proudly. Ben, though somewhat annoyed by Sam's impulsiveness, calmly took the lens.
As they entered the cave, guided by the system's instructions, Sam's eagerness got the best of him, and he rushed ahead. Ben quickly donned his lens and shouted, "Stop, you idiot! Look for traps."
Sam paused, and as Ben examined the cave through his lens, he noticed small hints of blue lights on the walls and floor. "I think it indicates the traps," Ben explained. The lens also offered the ability to create two small stones for every portion of the cave with a trap. Ben used this feature and threw the first stone at one of the blue lights, but nothing happened.
As he observed more closely, Ben realized that this portion of the cave had three such lights, and the lights appeared to be slightly smudged. All the smudges from the three spots pointed at a particular location. Ben aimed carefully and threw the stone to that spot, and instantly, a sharp spear-like road emerged from the ground.
Ben couldn't resist a teasing remark. "Look at that, dumbass. You would've been killed if I hadn't noticed it," he chided Sam, who now understood the importance of caution in this unfamiliar world.
Ben couldn't help but express his surprise at how relatively easy it had been to spot the trap, and he conveyed this to Sam. However, it seemed like he had jinxed their luck, as the upcoming floors became progressively more challenging and intricate. Undeterred, they pressed on, facing a series of puzzles, with Ben taking the lead and solving most of them. He couldn't resist proudly reminding Sam that without his guidance, Sam would have met a quick demise and should remember it for as long as he lived.
But just when they thought they had overcome the trials, a new and formidable challenge emerged. A massive green serpent monster with golden eyes appeared before them, its body restrained by tough black chains. The creature spewed out a corrosive and venomous acid that melted the floor beneath them. Behind the serpent lay a gleaming golden exit door. Both brothers were at a loss as to how to defeat this formidable foe, especially with the menacing wall behind them pushing them closer to the serpent.
Ben grappled with the problem, analyzing the periodicity and patterns of the serpent's attacks. He realized that the lens allowed him to deduce the first four attacks but left the fifth one entirely unpredictable. Ben explained this dilemma to Sam, and with time running out, they had to act swiftly to avoid getting caught in the serpent's deadly attack range.
Sam, fueled by bravery, instructed Ben to guide him through the first four attacks, and he boldly lunged into the fighting zone with the sword. They had no idea if their weapon could penetrate the serpent's formidable scales, but waiting any longer was not an option. As the fifth and unpredictable attack approached, Sam shouted at Ben to throw the stone at the serpent's eye, and Ben, without hesitation, complied. The serpent's final attack was thrown off course, and Sam seized the opportunity, slashing at the creature with his sword.
To their astonishment, the serpent shattered into tiny suspended fragments and disappeared. Sam and Ben stood there, jaws dropped in amazement. "So, all it took was that?" Sam wondered aloud. "We would've died if I had listened to you and waited any longer. Who's the dumbass now?" he chided Ben proudly. Ben, although slightly annoyed, had to concede. "So it was a test of bravery, then," Sam mused.
With the ordeal behind them, Ben retorted, "Shut up. Let's get out of this hellhole first." They rejoiced as they completed the trial, stepping out of the gate with a sense of accomplishment.
However, as they looked ahead, what stood before them left them in profound amazement, taking their adventure to a whole new level.
