Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

My timer rang so late this morning and by the time I was awake, and stretching my arms up, my eyes popped out their sockets, landing on the bright sun setting on the horizon and flashing it's rays into the space in my room. I gasped, virtually gripping to the sides of my timer to check again.

Crap. I was thirty minutes late?!

I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought that they must be deceiving me but when the number didn't change back to what it should be, I was screaming in horror. Not today out of all days?! It was Monday. I was so gone for this!

Between my nervousness I could hear a slight giggle evaporated a distance away from my room and on an instant, I knew who was behind this monstrosity. It was my baby sister, Chloe.

She might be five years old but she was a tiny demon and I mean that both playfully and seriously. If you will understand me. I loved her very very much but she was a total pain in the ass and—take this for example. Why would she do this to me?!

I groaned, mentally telling myself never to keep my room open ever again. I didn't know what I would do if she changed my timer again and no, I couldn't lay even a finger on her because she was my parent's pet.

As they would say. 'The baby in the house' Oh please. Only if they knew what she was capable of doing. I shook my clouded head, trying to assemble the nervous pieces of myself and get ready for school or for detention. Whatever way you would like to put this.

I parked my black curls hair to keep it out of my face, looking into the mirror for a while and I could vividly see bags underneath my eyes and my skin looked somewhat tanner possibly from stress. I've been Chloe home tutor since uh...forever. It was draining me, and I thought that mum should employ someone who was trained for this. It wasn't easy for me to compound her own work to mine and I meant it.

I was a science student, who wore lab clothes here and there with the aspirations of being a medical doctor someday. I so didn't have time to teach the alphabets to anyone and most of all, not Chloe. She would make you recite that thing an hundred time. Now, I thought I knew the alphabet better than I knew my chemistry.

Aw? Chemistry??!!

I blinked back the tears that wanted to form in my eyes when I realized that I might have forgotten to do my chemistry assignment yesterday. 'Might have' I said, because in truth, I had the books placed on my laps but after teaching a frustrating Chloe, I decided to take a little nap.

I groaned internally with a face anything but happy when I turned to see the books still on my bed with an empty blank space and I might have drolled on it. Crap?! Can the day get any worse?

"Honey"

My mother, Marie called from downstairs. "Don't be such a sleepy head and get ready for school"

She cautioned and I sincerely would have appreciated it better if she told me that about thirty minutes ago. I made a disgruntled sigh. "I'll be down in a jiffy!"

I retorted before making my way into the bathroom. I washed my body for a while, pouring water on my skin and scrubbing. I then washed my black curls too. After some few moments, I was wrapping my towel around my body and was coming out the bathroom.

I made an eye scan at my wardrobe, trying to get a dress that fitted in exactly with the tone of the day. Something free and comfortable would do after all, I indeed still had a lot waiting in store for me.

I went with a blue floral dress but I was Alexandria Jameson who could make anything look good, so it ended up looking as hot as the Jenner's and I wasn't trying to be cool here. It was just my reality. Although, I wasn't the beauty goddess in my school. I've still got a long way to go before I could acquire such position but I was pretty much on point.

Black curls, clear white eyes, pink lips, slender legs and an hour-glass shape. Oh...right and I also had freckles just somewhere underneath my eyes. I've always been insecure about that part of me because some people made fun of it.

I stared at my reflection for a while before bouncing out of my daze and grabbing a sandal heels. I wanted something simple today but fate turned it upside down so, I guess hot it is!

When I appeared downstairs, dad was no where in sight which only meant that he has left earlier to his workplace and mum was in the kitchen with her apron on and a large-sized spoon in her hands. She met my gaze from the other end and grinned. "Who is looking good today?"

I smiled back and Chloe was popping out of no where and interrupting the conversation in an innocent face. "Momma. Big sister is looking good but my assignment isn't"

My smile dropped on an instant, turning to meet her puppy dog face and mum was now looking at me with a frown in her brows. "Chloe, what do you mean?"

"Yes"

I folded my arms. "What do you mean?"

She coughed lightly before uttering that everything I thought her yesterday seemed to have vanished this morning and she couldn't understand the assignment anymore. "Mooma. What if the teacher asks me a question?"

She pressed further and I felt brimstone have summer-slam on me. She has got to be kidding me?! I didn't do my own work because of her assignments but soon, mum was turning to glance at me. "Alex"

"Try to make her understand better next time"

She scolded and I tried suppressed the anger that was bubbling inside me because godforbids an hot-looking-lady losing it on a warm Monday morning. "Yes, mum"

I uttered before turning to lock eyes with my younger sister. She was giving me her regular innocent smile even when we both knew that she was just trying to make my life a living hell trust me, if it wasn't unreasonable to pick a war with a five-year-old I wasn't going to back down, but what could I do? I could only endure her trouble every single day.

I cast her one last glance before turning to wave at mum. "I'm off to school"

Apart from today being Monday, It was also the first day after summer break and everyone else was probably already in school by now.

Sadly, I got to school even later because my bicycle was faulty so I had to take the bus, I would have taken the car if I was old enough to drive it. Yes! I was seventeen-year-old but it was just two months away before I'll be Eighteen, so technically, I wasn't a child anymore. I made my way into the hallways of Halohighs with my hands fixed a bit tightly on my bag as I headed to my first class.

Teachers were usually more strict on Monday mornings and that explains why I was granted detention immediately I entered my first class. It was the English teacher and even after dismissing me rudely, I could still feel his angry eyes boring into my backs.

I sighed, quickly finding a place to sit. I saw an empty chair next to the window at the left side and I instantly settled myself in it, bringing out my books and writing accessories. I placed them on my desk, then looking up to see what topic the teacher was teaching.

He discussing some essay topic. I tried to listen for a while, because he might give us an assignment after few minutes the period was over and yay! I could now breathe. I watched the teacher walk out of the class and almost the same moment a red-popstar-haired girl was coming to sit next to me. She was my bestie, Cassandra but I called her cassy for short.

"Hey! Who got her first detention today?"

I groaned, messaging my templates. "Please. Don't make me remember"

She smirked. "I'm always the one in the detention class now, you get to experience it for once"

"And I'm honored"

I uttered bitterly and she snickered, moving her arms in some weird way, as though she has got it a bit sprained. It wasn't unreasonable as her hobby was punching bags. Yeah! A boxer. "Only that. I've been a very good girl today. Which means, you have to wait after school all alone"

I gave her a thin smile. "Uhm. I'm pained to be separated from you"

She chuckled. "You peasant"

"You toothwheel"

"You monkey"

"You baboon"

I returned and she was arching her brows a little at me. "You're brutal"

She muttered and I gave her another of my thin smiles. "You thought me how to be"

"Either way you love me"

"Of cause. I do"

She snickered, poking me lightly by the arms and I knew what that meant. Gossip. My eyes widened, leaning into her obviously thinking about the odds of things getting so juicy already even just on the resumption day. "What?"

She smirked. "Did you hear? Some new students would be joining us"

"Really?"

I muttered and she was nodding her head at me with a large smirk. "We aren't sure how many but people caught a glimpse at one of them, a guy. He was in the principal's office this morning"

She groaned. "Crap. You had to see him. He is so handsome"

I let her do the whole girl thing for a while longer before uttering. "So…now, bad girl cassy is in love?"

She gritted, smacking me lightly across the arms. "You know how to kill the fun"

I laughed this time and she was uttering above my laughter. "He is hot, but sadly, not my type"

I arched a brow at her. "Now, what is your type?"

"You know me. I'm very hyper. I prefer a calmer guy to suit that side of me, but, this guy…He looks…"

She stuttered for a while before finding a word possibly close to what she wanted to describe. "He has that energy"

"Energy?"

"Like how?"

I asked somewhat curiously and she was soon rising to her feet and shrugging. "Idk. I just think that he is not the regular guy. I prefer regular guys that would swoon on my feet and kiss my—"

I block my ears, already knowing what she wanted to say. "Language!"

"Sorry mum" she retorted before making her way toward the door. When she reached the doorway, then tilted her sight back to me. "Call me. After the detention class. Someone must make sure that you made it out there alive"

I chuckled. "It's just one boring night. I couldn't possibly die from that"

She hunched her shoulders giving me a little shrug with a clueless face. "Just saying"

I nodded and then she left. Right, we didn't have the same subject, so it was high time I parked up and moved to my next class so I don't get double detention.
