When they arrived at the Lecture Hall the students were still filing in. So John and Bill stood outside and ended up making out again in the corner away from the door. Pulling away they made their way into the room.
Bill took his seat and John made his way over to the desk at the front where Rachel was sitting next to it. When everyone finished taking their seats John stood up "Afternoon Everyone, This afternoons lecture is about Product development.
The goal of any business is to produce a product and/or service that will be of benefit to others, Also you in most cases you also have to strive to make a Product and/or Service that will be good enough to attract investors, which will in the end help you make money"
John took a deep breath and continued " So with this in mind this afternoon we are going to have a little practical experience, We are going to play Dragon's Den or Shark Tank, You will divide into two groups, One Group will be the Investors you will be given and imaginary 5 million Dollars your jobs will be to analyse and evaluate the the other teams Product. You will also be responsible for evaluating their marketing and Business plans. You can ask questions. In the end you have to decide if they are worth investing in.
The Other team will be developing a leading edge product or service use your imaginations, working as a team you are to develop the product and do a business plan and marketing strategy. You will then present yourselves to the investors and conduct your presentation. Your goal is to get their investment.
To make it more interesting Rachel is going to divide you into your teams as I know all of you. I would like to see how everyone works when they are not working with their usual partners.
With that Rachel went around and tagged everyone as either a Dragon or a Shark. When she finished John instructed " Alright you have your teams please separate in to them please The Sharks you will be the ones developing the product or service and the dragons will be the Big shots who will be investing. You have just over an hour to develop you products and strategies. Dragons you use this Hour to discuss what you think would be beneficial in a product or service and to discuss any question you would like to ask"
Continuing John said " Good Luck now get to work"
John went and sat down next the Rachel and kept watch on everyone. They were talking when Rachel asked "I heard you have developed some Study Guides do you think I could see some"
John Thinking about said " That should be alright, we don't have any normal classes tomorrow so you can join me in my Classroom and observe my Students if you like"
Just as he finished talking someone knocked on the door " Sorry to bother boss can I talk to you for a minute?" John nodded and indicated for them to come in "What wrong." The student was one of the Music Course students " I have a presentation this afternoon in about half and Hour and I am having trouble getting this one section to work, I have the words and the tune but it doesn't seem to work, so I was hoping you could have a quick look and give me a suggestion."
John nodded " Show me I will see what i can do" Showing John his Music and his Words. After reading through it he looked up.
"Can I use your instrument?" The Student handed John the Guitar and he started to play it and singing the song the student had written when he got to the part that was causing to problems. He kept singing it and trying a few different things until he heard what he needed. John changed the notes on the Students Music sheet and Played it through again.
John smiled and handed the guitar back " Here you go try that see if it what you are after" He played it through and it worked perfectly" Thank you so much" John replied " You did a great job on it. So keep up the good work" With that the Student left to go do his presentation. Rachel had been watching him the whole time "You were really good with him then"
John just looked at her " Thank you ,some people just need a small nudge in the right direction and they can usually run the rest of the way" Looking at his watch he called out " Fifteen minutes everyone"
Soon the teams were doing their presentation and requesting a large investment to help produce and market their products. It was rather interesting to watch.
John walked forward " Good Job everyone, I happy to see everyone working so well together, your plans and strategies were excellent, and your questions and answers were well thought out and answered efficiently.
Good work, alright times up lets go home"
