Alex's POV:
I checked the time again and frowned. It had been thirty minutes since I flew in and the driver is still not here. I had never had to wait for something in my life, but this driver had to make me wait. Once he gets here, I will have to fire him.
"He will be here soon." My assistant, Bruno, said for the fiftieth time, trying to calm me.
Bruno has been my friend since high school. He didn't want to leave my sight because of the help I gave to his family, so he opted to be my assistant.
Finally, I saw the car park just in front of us. "You are dead." I heard Bruno whisper to the driver, and the driver stared at me with an apologetic look before picking up our luggage.
I was about to walk into the car when I saw a girl dressed in a black skirt and white shirt. She was in a frustrating state as she held her heels on her hands and dragged a suitcase.
Her appearance was messy and also cute. A smile crept on my lips when I stared at her.
"Sir." Bruno woke me up from my reverie as he stared at me, confused.
I wiped the smile from my face before pointing at the lady and saying, "I want information about her."
On our way back home, I checked some files concerning our business here in New York.
I had a commercial lending institution which lends out money to businessmen and they are to pay with an interest. Right now I was checking the debtors.
"Mr. Clarke has been owing such a huge amount for a long time, the amount is far past his guarantee." I said, and Bruno nodded nervously.
"He took money to save his company but now he went bankrupt and doesn't have a dime." he explained and I frowned, so what he is trying to say is we are at a lost because Mr. Clarke cannot pay his debts?
"I will have a meeting with him." I said and Bruno took that down. Then there was a screeching sound as the driver stopped the car.
"What happened?" Bruno asked as we both looked outside and discovered the driver almost ran into another car. Then a lady walked out of the car towards us. It was the same lady I saw at the airport.
"Are you blind?" she scolded angrily. Bruno walked down the car towards her.
"We are sorry about this, but don't yell," he said, and I saw the lady scoff.
"So you think I am yelling? You almost ran into me and now my boss will fire me." she increased her tone and then stared at the car.
"Well, seeing that it's an expensive car. I accept your apologies…but be careful next time." then she ran into the car and drove away.
I couldn't help but chuckle. What type of lady was she? One minute she was angry and the next minute she was calm.
From Olivia's POV:
I was already tired because of the countless orders my boss kept throwing at me. After picking him up at the airport, I broke my heels and hurried to the car with him. I was about to drive out of the airport when I ran into a car, but seeing that the car was more expensive than that of my boss, I let it go and drove away.
"What was that?" the CEO of Leader Light, Coyle, my boss who was in his early thirties but very rude asked when I walked back to the car.
While driving, I could feel my body shivering in fear because of his voice. My palms became sweaty, but I had to maintain my calm composure. "A little misunderstanding." I said and felt his sharp gaze was stuck on me.
Then he looked away and focused on the paper he was reading. I sighed and drove carefully before dropping him off at his place.
I was his secretary, but he treated me like his nanny and driver, as I was always there with him.
He walked out of the car and glared at me. "If you can't walk with heels, then don't wear them," he said with a mocking tone, and I nodded sadly. Tomorrow was my wedding, but he still stressed me out.
"I should leave now." I said before handing the car keys to him. and turned to leave.
"Miss Clarke." he called, and I stopped in my tracks before spinning towards him.
"Are you sure about marrying that man?" as Mr. Adams spoke, he approached me. He was a little taller than me and his aura was too powerful for me, so I swallowed hard before taking a step backwards.
"If there is nothing else, then I will leave now." I shivered and ran towards the gate without looking behind. When I was far from his view, I could finally breathe in relief before taking a cab back home.
Not long, I arrived in our economically disadvantage area where I live with my parents.
"Have you changed your mind about marrying Caleb?" mom asked as soon as I walked in. How do I say to her that I love Caleb so much and want to spend the rest of my life with him?
"Mom, I haven't." I scoffed then went to my bedroom and shut it angrily. Tomorrow was my wedding but everyone wants to stress me.
My phone rang. It was my best friend, Natalie.
I answered her call.
"Hey, Natalie!"
"For the veil, white or blue?"
"Blue."
"Okay friend, but I want to ask you this question again. Are you sure you want to push through with the wedding?"
"Natalie!!"
"I'm sorry…don't mind my question."
"Everything is ready for the wedding. It's just something simple and we sign some few papers…let's talk later." I hung up the phone before Natalie could protest and took a deep breath.
Caleb was not rich and not the kindest, but he was the only one who loved me even after my father went bankrupt. Not forgetting Natalie.
So to hell with all the talks, I am getting married to Caleb tomorrow and we will live happily ever. Now I wonder what surprises awaits me tomorrow.
Suddenly, exhaustion finally weighed down on me. I crawled into bed and laid on my back, stared at the ceiling, and waited for sleep to come.
