Chu Molin looked at Jing Xin, unsure of what to say to him. Seeing his state, and thinking about his wife's suggestion that Molin might be her cousin, he found it hard to express his current feelings. After all, this would mean that they were in-laws, and therefore related. In such circumstances, he couldn't refuse to help. He couldn't just sit back and watch a great family fall apart, and with the children unable to see their father. This isn't good for their upbringing. Therefore, he figured that he ought to lend a hand, for the sake of their past as comrades.
"What did you say when you returned to the Jings' house? Did they agree to cut ties with you?" Chu Molin could not fathom the likelihood of this, or else the situation would not have escalated to such an extent.
