The group returned to Stuart Manor, laden with their day's finds, as evening began to fall. Vivian Ferguson very much wanted Angela Reid to stay for dinner, but Angela, thinking of Graham Berkeley eating dinner alone at home, decided to leave.
If Camila Walker were home, at least he wouldn't be alone.
As soon as Angela thought of Camila Walker, a sense of melancholy overcame her.
She had no idea how her daughter was faring overseas.
"Mom, are you sure you won't stay for dinner?" It was getting dark, and Emily Walker was worried about her mother going back alone.
Angela looked at her daughter, and though she was reluctant to leave, the recent improvement in her condition settled her nerves considerably.
"No, your dad is at home alone; I don't feel comfortable leaving him by himself."
"Alone?" Emily seemed puzzled. "Where's—Camila Walker?"
Suddenly asked about Camila Walker, Angela's expression became unavoidably unnerved.
