As he raced towards the pool, Baron Stuart realized it was still several meters away. Despite his swift steps, he felt it was too far away. Even a one-second delay made his chest ache with suffocation.
"Emily Walker!" For the first time, he screamed, torn apart by agony.
Baron Stuart leapt into the pool.
Seeing the person in the water, her eyes shut tight as she floated, his heart clenched mercilessly. Intense despair threatened to engulf him.
He controlled the storms, ruled the business world, and could obtain anything he wanted with ease. However, now he experienced a new, overwhelming sense of fear, afraid of losing her – the one before him.
In the water, he grabbed her. As he turned her over, he accidentally glimpsed something at the bottom of the pool shining with a brilliant, transparent hue.
By the time they emerged from the pool, they were soaked to the bone. Emily now seemed devoid of life, showing no signs of vitality.
