Scarlett Glenn hurriedly touched her face, and felt wetness. She couldn't tell if the liquid mingling on her skin was sweat or tears.
She wiped her face, and black smudges appeared on her hand, mascara and eyeliner smeared across her skin.
She knew she looked especially ugly at this moment and should clean herself up, but she didn't want to move.
Perhaps she thought, since it was in front of her own mother, it didn't matter how ugly she looked; in her mother's eyes, she was always the most beautiful young lady.
Scarlett held her face and said, "These are the things I know. That day... I saw my mother fall from upstairs. It was so high, she just fell and hit the ground, blood spilling everywhere..."
While speaking of these matters, Scarlett seemed to be narrating her own experience with no particularly strong reaction.
Drip, drip; consecutive droplets of water fell to the ground, shattering on impact and evaporating quickly.
