Scarlett Glenn pried Ethan Herd's hand off of her and turned to leave.
Ethan called after her, "Wait... You won't find a taxi in this area. Take my car keys..."
"Thank you..." Scarlett mumbled, taking them without raising her head.
Ethan wanted to follow her, but he knew that at this moment, the last person Scarlett would want to see was him. How could her strong self allow others to see her vulnerability?
Ethan had never seen Scarlett like this, at this moment, he realized she was just a regular girl.
Ethan watched as Scarlett drove his car away. He felt a heavy weight in his chest, the burning sun outside failed to heat him.
Upon returning home, Ethan was in low spirits. He sat down to see a steaming bowl of chicken noodles on the table. Rubbing his forehead, he wondered what Scarlett had felt eating the noodles?
Mrs. Herd looked puzzled, "What's wrong with her? Didn't she like my soup? It tasted quite good when I tried it."
