Scarlett Glenn let go of Ethan Herd and turned to leave. Thomas glanced at him, hurriedly gathered his things, and followed her out.
Ethan felt like there was a hard lump stuck in his throat. He tried hard to speak, but no sound came out. He could only watch Scarlett walk away.
Ethan didn't immediately chase after her. He sat on the hospital bed, thinking that he needed to sort out his thoughts. His mind was a mess, and he felt terrible.
His mobile phone rang, but Ethan didn't want to look at it or answer.
But since he didn't answer, the phone just kept ringing. Ethan was getting a headache from the noise, so he took it out and saw that it was his mum.
He lazily picked it up: "Hello, Mum…"
"Ethan, where have you been these last few days?"
Ethan lied without hesitation: "Busy, working overtime."
Mrs. Herd was annoyed: "You're not busy! I went to your company, and Jun told me you hadn't been there for two days."
