The smile on Ethan Herd's face froze, realizing he was being ridiculed.
He shamelessly replied, "Don't worry, that bastard will apologize to you when he gets home."
Scarlett Glenn rolled her eyes, "Apologize, I'm not interested unless... you kiss me…"
Mrs. Herd, listening in on their conversation, instantly interrupted Scarlett, "Listen here, you little fairy. This is a young lady's coming-of-age ceremony. No more of your mischief! It's one thing to cause a ruckus at home, but we must maintain decorum outside."
As soon as Mrs. Herd finished speaking, her son tilted Scarlett's chin up and gave her a kiss, "There, no more fuss."
Mrs. Herd pointed at them, "Very well, both of you, giving me a headache."
Scarlett, swinging her arm around Mrs. Herd, retorted, "Where, Aunt? You should be happy seeing us so in love. Soon, you'll have a grandchild."
Mrs. Herd huffed, turning away but not pulling her arm away from Scarlett.
