The Police Department's interrogation room was dark and suffocating, psychologically exerting a tremendous oppressive force on the prisoner.
The squeaking iron door was pushed open from the outside, casting a faint shadow in the dim light.
Rafferty, his head drooped, lifted his eyelid and curled his dried, parched lips in a slight smile.
Aubree Groove walked up to Rafferty, twisted open a water bottle, and handed it to his lips.
Rafferty hesitated for a moment.
"Afraid I might poison it?"
Rafferty let out a cold laugh, and with a few glugs, the whole water bottle was finished off.
With hydration, he seemed to regain some vitality.
"The hidden agents that Virginia Frost planted in Pethkids have almost been dug out. Don't worry, I won't ask you about it."
Rafferty's eyelid twitched.
"You've been hiding in Skyla Mountain for years. If it wasn't for Virginia Frost's incident, you probably would never come down the mountain."
