Kelly Martinez quietly approached Aubree Groove, lowered her voice and asked, "What have you found?"
As she spoke, her gaze never left the child's face.
The child also noticed her, and suddenly giggled, extending his arms towards her.
Kelly Martinez paused, her expression complex as if she couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry.
Aubree brought the child to her and said gently, "Hold him."
Trembling, Kelly Martinez extended her arms and took the child. It was clear from her awkward movement that she had no experience holding children, yet surprisingly, the child didn't cry, instead playing with Kelly's hair, laughing with a clear, bell-like sound.
Esther glanced at this scene, her eyebrows subconsciously knitted, giving Kelly an extra look.
Aubree moved in front of Esther, blocking Kelly from her view, and said softly, "Madam."
Esther regained her composure and opened the door to a room on the west side: "This is the place."
