Teardrops, falling silently, landed on Aubree Groove's hand. Her mouth opened, but she said nothing.
"What's going on?" Nicholas Drake appeared at the door.
Aubree Groove hardened her face, "What I'm about to say is extremely important, you must keep every single word in mind, and follow what I say exactly."
Nicholas Drake sensed the urgency and immediately straightened up.
"These children have fallen ill with an infectious disease, the origin of which is unknown. I must save them."
Upon hearing the word 'infectious disease', Nicholas Drake's face immediately changed color.
He fully understood how horrific a pandemic can be, ravaging in this barren place. It was brutally cruel, but the only way they could survive was by allowing natural selection to take its course, no charitable organization would rush to their rescue. The children seemed abandoned by the world, their lives, or deaths mattered to no one.
