A man's voice sounded in the car: "Take her too."

Connie, sitting in the passenger seat, calmly began to call for backup on the phone, saying: "Ms. Rinto is clever and cautious, and capable of defending herself. She should be fine."
"What do you know?" Kelly Martinez snapped back.
"Those people are desperate. If anything happens..." She dared not think any further.
Connie squinted, glancing at Kelly Martinez.
This man's concern for Ms. Rinto was certainly not ordinary. Just what was their relationship?
