Kiara didn't decline and, after accepting the check and exchanging pleasantries, someone came to see Madame Aurora Dell. Kiara took this opportunity to leave, agreeing to come back later that night.
Baron was waiting for her outside, eager to give her a ride home. Yet, as Kiara looked at him, she thought of his chatty indiscretion in the car, so she made up an excuse about visiting a friend to avoid riding with him. Instead of going home, she headed straight for Zoel Cohen's place in Linville.
She should have gone to her elder brother, but it seemed he had been out of town, busy with business meetings, and probably couldn't spare the time. Conveniently, Zoel had called her in the morning to say he was in Linville and to ask when she would be free to meet, making him the ideal person to talk to.
