"Kiara, you and Edward... you haven't had a fight, have you?"
"Fight? We're doing great."
It wasn't a holiday, and yet her daughter had suddenly come home, which made Kiara's Mother immediately think of marital strife. Not daring to ask directly for fear of hurting her daughter's feelings, she paced back and forth with bated breath outside Kiara's door.
Her daughter had been home for a day and a night already, but why hadn't she heard from her son-in-law?
"If there's nothing wrong, then why would you leave school and come running home?" Kiara coming home had left Kiara's Mother tossing and turning, unable to sleep all night.
Now that her son had gone to work and Giorno had gotten married and moved out, only she and her spouse were left at home, their days suddenly quiet. When she had nothing else to do, she would think about each of her children one by one, always fearing they might be having a tough time outside without telling their family.
