Mario Yuno saw the situation and reached out to stop the heavyset woman.
"Big sister, let's talk this out. Don't hit the child," he said.
"You don't know, this kid isn't my own. His dad's a murderer, got caught and got life. We took him in because he had nowhere to go. But look at this, the beam is crooked, and so is the column under it. We show sympathy for him, how does he repay us with his work?"
Hearing the Boss Lady's words filled the child's eyes with tears, though he forcibly held them back, unable to flow down. It seemed he resented the woman speaking ill of his biological father yet felt powerless to refute.
The harsh realities of life had already taught a teenager what it meant to compromise with reality.
"Adult issues should not be taken out on the child. At his age, he should not even be working," he said.
