Only after the father and son of the Gardner family left did Victor Chadwick turn to look at Monica Baldwin. With a mix of indulgence and helplessness, he asked, "You agreed so quickly. Aren't you afraid you might lose?"
"I know how to play Texas Hold'em." Monica answered Victor, "With me around, why do you need to step in?"
"Partying may be the strong suit of second-generation heirs. Are you sure you can win?"
"You will never let me lose." Monica lowered her head and took a deep breath, "Don't ask why I play. It's all in the past. But tonight, I want to fight for you for once. Okay?" Upon saying this, Monica reached out to clutch the sleeve of Victor's shirt.
Victor glanced sidelong at her slender hand and burst into a sudden smile, "Could I even refuse?"
"But what if I lose..."
"Well, then I'd have to step in and lose to Ian Gardner on your behalf."
Monica couldn't help but chuckle, "Believe in me this once."
