"Mr. Lindsey!"
Ruben Finnegan turned around in shock, his face tense, his actions paralyzed for a moment.
He stood rigidly in place.
Arthur Lindsey seemed to look right through him, those deep, ink-like eyes never rested on him.
From the moment he entered the hospital ward, all of Arthur's attention was focused on Ella Lacey, lying on the bed, filled with longing and affection from not seeing her all day.
"Arthur, you're here."
Ella Lacey sweetly called out to him. Seeing the nutritious meal he was holding, she sat up and took a deep whiff. "It smells wonderful."
It was the familiar scent and recipe she knew.
The professional nutritionist Arthur had hired had carefully prepared her dinner.
Strangely enough-
Faced with Ella's enthusiastic greeting, Arthur made no response. His face seemed even colder, his movements stiff and indifferent, he unpacked the meal and placed it heavily on the clean, spacious table in front of Ella.
Uh-oh-
This isn't good.
