"Ella!"
Without any hesitation, Louis Jefferson caught up with her, reached the rooftop, and saw Ella Lacey standing above the safety railing with her shoulders trembling, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Ella, don't do anything foolish!" Louis said as he attempted to approach her, fearing she might jump.
"Louis, don't come any closer." Ella Lacey wiped her tears, waved him away, and threatened, "If you move another step forward, I will jump immediately."
"Okay, okay, I won't come any closer." Louis stopped in his tracks, attempting to soothe her, "Ella, you can't be so impulsive. Everything can be figured out."
"It's useless." Ella's tears began to flow again as she spoke with utter desolation, "I heard everything."
"..."
Louis understood what she meant. It was Arthur Lindsey. Arthur Lindsey's cold demeanor had killed all her hopes.
