Alexander Stuart stood dumbfounded in place. This did not match the cold-blooded character of Arthur Lindsey that he knew!
"Alexander, are you willing or not, huh?" Arthur clutched his neck and asked sharply.
"Mr. Lindsey, could... could you not bully me like this…"
Alexander pried his hand off of him, cleared his throat, and replied, "Of course, I am."
"Then what are you waiting for? Prepare for the surgery!" Arthur was adamant, eager to get the young lady healthy again. This was more important to him than anything else.
Alexander moved away from him, hurt inside.
Indeed, men and women were treated differently. Arthur could be so kind to Miss Ella, even to the point of risking his own life. Yet any hesitation on Alexander's part was not acceptable to him.
Women in favor, fated men, the difference was enormous.
